Description

The Bakehouse Cottage has been sensitively restored using traditional materials and fittings. The original bread oven has been retained in the kitchen, but is non functional. This is a unique opportunity to stay in a traditional 17th Century Jersey farm building that has been brought up to date for 21st century living and is a proposed Site of Special Interest. It is only a ten minute walk to the beautiful South East coast, a superb stretch of coast which is one of the world's protected RAMSAR sites. This beach is wonderful and safe for swimming at high tide, rock pooling and shrimping at low tide and a bird watcher's paradise, particularly in the Autumn when there is a wealth of marine life and migrating species.

Booking now for next year and beyond.

The cottage accommodates a spacious lounge/diner with exposed beams and a large open fireplace with a wood burning stove. The main bedroom, one of the twin bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs from the lounge/diner.

Location description from manager

The Channel Islands region

Jersey, the largest and most southerly of the Channel Islands, with over 450 miles of roadway (comprising a mix of roads and small lanes) as well as a network of over 46 miles of green lanes with a speed limit of 15mph (24kph) where priority is given to walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The island is well known for its truly magnificent sandy beaches, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding lanes take you through delightful countryside. Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, Spring arrives early and Summer lingers on. The weather here consistently tops the UK resort charts for sunshine hours and temperature. Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands and summer temperatures average 20C.

The French flavour is all around with French sounding names, continental style bistros, restaurants and pavement cafes. You do not need a passport to visit the Channel Islands unless you intend taking a day trip to France which is a short hop away by sea or air. You will need proof of identity for flights and sea travel to the island.

Some of Jersey's popular events include the Battle Of Flowers (Second week of August), world famous music festival Jersey Live (first weekend of September), International Air Display (Second week of September) as well as many other local festivals and fetes throughout the year.

Whilst the island is served by a bus service, your own transport is highly recommended - either your own car or a hired car or bicycle to make the most of your visit.

St. Clement

St Clement
In this southeast coastal parish you'll find the most unusual seafront in Jersey. It's known as Moonscape Beach, referring to the 2 miles (3 kms) of rock jutting out to sea which are revealed when the tide goes out. Don't walk out too far, as the incoming tide can surround you before you know it. Green Island, a prehistoric site, lies 274 metres from the shore.

La Rocque Harbour
With a small sandy beach, the rocky coast line is popular for low water fishing and children find the marine life in the rock pools an adventure playground. Swimming is accessible at high tide and swimmers should take care due to strong currents.
