Location description from owner

The Channel Islands region

Jersey is a fascinating island with a diverse history, very different to the UK mainland or indeed France. The Channel Islands are warmed by the Gulf Stream which helps make Jersey the sunniest and warmest place in Britain.

The beaches are stunning and are great locations for people watching, a leisurely stroll or to take advantage of the wide range of watersports that are on offer.

There are regular food festivals and the now famous Tennerfest eating event in October/November where over 100 restaurants offer specially reduced menus.

The island is lucky to have a massive range of restaurants serving lots of local fresh farm produce and fish. There is an array of different food styles from around the world as well as traditional British Fare. The fish market is a must-see in St Helier and a real experience. A delight if you enjoy cooking and lots of things to put on the barbecue too.

The Channel Islands are the only part of Britain to be occupied during the Second World War and this is well documented at award winning venues throughout the island. Mont Orgueil castle is a great place to visit to experience the atmosphere of times past.

For the younger ones there is a lively nightlife in St Helier with lots of bars and clubs to dance the night away.

St. Brelade

The pretty village of St Aubin is one of Jersey's most sought after holiday locations. The beautiful harbour area is surrounded by an array of restaurants and bars. The extensive choice of restaurants covers a huge variety of nationalities and styles from casual reasonably priced dining to more sophisticated high end cuisine. The whole area is a delight and has its own personality which is complemented by regular farmers markets and special events. The parish has some of the best beaches on the island. The popular St Brelade's Bay provides golden sands and a choices of activities on offer. Quieter bays like Portelet and Ouaisne are also in the parish.
