Location description from owner

The England region

Cornhill Farm Cottages are set in a central location for your self catering holiday in Cornwall, ideal for easily exploring this picturesque part of the county. The Mid Cornwall area has much to offer, from the many beautiful gardens that thrive in the mild Cornish climate to the family attractions and theme parks – a more detailed list of attractions can be found on our attractions page. The village of St Blazey is within walking distance of the accommodation where you will find “The Packhorse” (public house), village post office and convenience store and local Co-Op supermarket. Within a 3 mile radius there is a 24 hour Tesco and Asda. Further a field, but still within 30 minutes drive is the beautiful cathedral city of Truro. Visitors are spoilt with a large choice of places to “eat out” with all tastes catered for.

St Blazey

The cottages are situated less than 2 miles away from the sandy beaches which form St Austell bay, and are located within an easy drive of Newquay and the spectacular north coast, all of which offer many quiet coves, surfing beaches, fishing villages and the coastal footpath.

Passing close by the cottages is the Saints Way (“forth an syns” in Cornish), a 26 mile trail which runs from Padstow to Fowey, through beautiful countryside, including the picturesque Luxulyan Valley, where you can see the Treffry Viaduct, (pictured). Along the route a wide variety of flora and fauna can be found.

For those interested in our maritime heritage, the Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage centre at the historic old port of Charlestown offers an insight into the perils of the sea. In addition to this, the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth is a very popular attraction. This complex has a wide range of vessels, past and present on display, together with many hands-on exhibits.

There are many opportunities for leisure pursuits, all within easy driving distance. These include: horse riding and cycling on the Camel Trail near Padstow; surfing at Newquay; fishing trips from Mevagissey; walking and ten pin bowling in St Austell to name but a few.

You may wish to visit the many beautiful gardens that thrive in the mild Cornish climate. Of these, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tregrehan Gardens and the National Trust Gardens of Lanhydrock House and Cotehele are well worth considering.
