Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2014 Award winning characterful cottage set in it's own beautiful meadow at the end of a tree-lined lane, adjacent to the main farmhouse but very private. We are proud to offer you a unique holiday in central Cornwall, just a 20 minute car journey to either coast & only 10 minutes away from the famous Eden project. Almost all the furniture is handmade by the owner in a rustic style in keeping with the building, on a heart theme - a romantic getaway we think. Gather your own eggs in the morning laid by our free- range chickens & cook breakfast to eat on your terrace or sit & listen to the wildlife over a glass of wine around your own picnic table in the meadow. There are Bluetooth speakers in the bedroom so you can listen to music from your bed or when sitting outside. Cosy up in front of the wood burner in the winter months. If you have any leftover bread then call the chickens & watch them run across the grass to see you, hilarious to watch! We have 2 gorgeous moorland ponies & a shetland who will come up & nuzzle you, especially if you have carrots or apples to hand :-)
You are welcome to bring your dog on holiday with you for a small extra fee. We do ask however that if they are not used to chickens that they are kept on a lead until the chickens are in bed as we have had some near misses! We are just a 5 minute walk from Retire Common, a 127 acre conservation area renowned for its rare breeds of butterflies - perfect for walking your dog or indeed a gentle stroll after your evening meal. We also have a spare stable so if you would like to come on holiday with your horse & enjoy the local countryside then please do contact us.
Want to bring a couple of friends & pitch a tent in your meadow? Again, this can be arranged for just £20 per night per tent - contact us for details. Although we only accommodate 2 adults you may of course bring your baby/young child at no extra charge as long as you are able to bring a travel cot. We welcome cyclists & walkers & secure storage is available in one of our outbuildings. Bikes can be hired nearby & they will deliver on the Friday before you arrive & collect from us the following Friday.
If you are arriving by train then we would be happy to collect you from either Bodmin or St Austell station.
Internet is available but please be advised that due to the rural location it is not always guaranteed - so frustrating for us :-( Therefore, if you were planning on working on holiday (why would you?!) then this may not always be possible!
Electricity & underfloor heating is included. Wood for the wood burner is available free of charge as we have loads of wood!
We are here every day if you need any help with anything from ideas on where to eat or visit or if you just fancy coming across to join us for a chat. Usually wine in the fridge which we are quite happy to share!!
We love to cook here at Lower Colbiggan & you will be welcomed by a homemade cake of your choice & tea & coffee making facilities so you can put your feet up & relax as soon as you arrive. Water is from our own well here & we think it tastes amazing.
If you are thinking of booking with us just a point to bear in mind that is that the last 10 metres of the lane to the main house gate is not tarmaced so can be a little bumpy if you have a sports car that is low to the ground. Passable of course with care.
Check out time is 10 a.m. with arrival from 4.00 p.m onwards.
10% discount for returning guests.
We hope to be able to welcome you soon.
Lee & Debbie & the animals :-)

""Mummy, I want to go back to the Farmhouse" Hugo, aged 3"
This was our first trip away since having our son, and things couldn't have been more perfect. Our son, who is now 3 years, loved the cottage and surroundings (chasing the chickens and not quite having the courage to feed the ponies). The little personal touches by Debbie and Lee really make this a stand out place to stay. Thank you very much for making us feel so welcome. Sarah, Dan and Hugo (who still talks about the chicken tea cosy!)

"Amazing stay, extremely welcoming hosts."
From the moment we arrived we felt at home. The owners greeted us at the door and showed us round (candles and electric blankets already on!). We had freshly made bread brought to us the next morning. All the small details were provided (we needn't have worried about bringing milk, eggs, butter, bottled water or toiletries). We were even given freshly made gluten free brownies (as I am a coeliac) which are by far the best brownies I have ever eaten! The farmhouse was very clean and neither of us could fault the hosts in any way; so welcoming, approachable and friendly. Would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone!

We absolutely loved our little holiday to Lower Colbiggan Farmhouse! The cottage was cosy, quaint and gorgeous! We loved all the little personal touches and the stunning handmade furniture! We were met by Lee and Debbie who could not have done more for us- fresh eggs, milk, lemon drizzle cake, cold beer and even some treats for our pug dennis from their dogs! Freshly baked bread and jam next morning and eggs daily delivered by the hens. We could have honestly lived there it suited us perfectly. Dave the horse was a character and we met the blue eyed ponies in the bottom field! The location was excellent, everything we wanted was no further than 20-30 miles away! We will definitely be back, we would definitely recommend it but also want to keep this little cosy retreat our secret!! Thank you so much Debbie and lee

"Way beyond five star"
I cannot rate Lower Colbiggan Farmhouse highly enough. The whole experience was just fantastic - an absolute dream honeymoon for us and our dog, Buddy. All communication with Lee was promptly answered; his directions were perfect (handy, as it was dark when we arrived) and as we arrived on a Saturday night, it was lovely that fresh eggs, bread, milk, butter and homemade lemon cake met us upon arrival, as well as a congratulatory bottle in the fridge. As we arrived quite late, they'd also lit the log burner and put the electric blankets on for us - heaven! Lee and Debbie are just wonderful hosts - always ready for a chat but not overbearing, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Their advice on local places to see etc was always spot on and after tasting the lemon cake, I offered myself up to be adopted by them! The cottage itself couldn't get more perfect - all cutlery, crockery etc is provided, along with washing up liquid etc, so you don't need to bring anything, even towels and toothpaste were there! I love that Lee built the cottage and all the furniture, such a lovely, homely feel to the place - very talented! The ponies, chickens, dogs and ferrets were a joy to behold and just added to the experience. It's also really conveniently located - a couple of minutes from the A30, which we used to travel as far as Land's End. There's so much to do within easy reach of this property, we wouldn't have managed it all if we'd stayed a month (which would have been lovely!). I really don't have a bad word to say about our stay with Lee and Debbie, they deserve the highest praise, they really do. For the coziness of the cottage, the VIP treatment and the impeccable standards of every little thing, you'd certainly expect to pay a lot more, and no experience in any 5 star hotel could even come close to what we experienced here. It was the personal touches which really made the difference, and we can't thank Lee and Debbie enough - our honeymoon was totally blissful. NB - Although the cottage may not be wheelchair accessible, and the decking could be slippery at times, I've put that I'd recommend it to people with disabilities because I have Asperger's Syndrome and mental health issues, and it could easily have been the case that liaising / chatting with the hosts was a stumbling block for me. However, without knowing about my invisible disabilities, they completely put me at ease and I felt no pressure to talk more than I felt able to - they are genuinely good people and I immediately felt relaxed around them. If this hadn't been the case, I don't think I could have enjoyed myself so much, so I really do owe them thanks. Also, suitable for large groups if all but 2 of them are happy in a tent in the garden, but yes, plenty of room for that! :)

The cottage was stunning, and more than exceeded anything we had imagined, and the location is ideally placed for exploring all of Cornwall. Debbie and Lee were exceptional hosts and genuinely nice people. All the little tips and advice were really appreciated. In fact, the best places that we visited during our stay were places suggested to us by Lee. We must say a massive thank you to Debbie for the gorgeous cake, the really appreciated freshly baked bread, and all the other surprise little treats. Loved all the animals on the farm, especially the ponies, already missing feeding them. We can't recommend this place highly enough, we will definitely be going back for another visit, but for longer next time.

"Perfect little holiday"
We stayed here with our pug for a week in August. The cottage is simply beautiful and the hosts outstanding!! We were made to feel so welcome and had everything we needed. The location is perfect to explore other towns of Cornwall as its near enough central to everywhere!! The homemade goodies were amazing and Lee and Debbie were lovely people ..even went to the trouble of buying me a birthday card and bottle during my stay (thank you again!) Was our first but wont be our last stay :)

"Lower Colbiggan the hidden gem of Cornwall"
As stated above, Lower Colbiggan Farmhouse really is the hidden gem of Cornwall.. Not only due to the location where it is easily commutable to just about anywhere in Cornwall (you are less than 5 minutes away from the A30) but the people who own the Farmhouse. Lee and Debbie were absolutely incredible hosts, I read the reviews and viewed the pictures prior to booking and with a 5 star rating across the board our expectations were set pretty high and I'm more than happy to say that not only were our expectations met, they were exceeded! Upon arrival we were greeted at the gate by Debbie who had a freshly baked carrot cake and loaf of bread waiting for us; both of which were delicious and didn't survive the week, in addition to this once we unpacked our bags both Lee and Debbie were happy to formally greet us with a drink and good conversation. Oh and the horses! They were absolutely incredible :) the only negative that I can possibly think of would be the signal/Wi-Fi but this was advertised and seeing as we were in the heart of woodlands, fields and farms it was expected. To summarise, we had an amazing trip seeing the Eden Project, Newquay, Charlestown and a port village by the name of Fowey. Lower Colbiggan was a home away from home, I went with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary but Lee and Debbie clearly put a lot of thought and effort into personalising each stay. I have recommended staying here to family and friends and I would happily recommend paying a visit to this beautiful location and experience it for yourself.

"dreamily relaxing and such friendly owners Lee and Debbie wers so kind"
Cottage was in a really idyllic corner of Cornwall. Owners were waiting to welcome us and showed us around the site. They left a lovely homemade carrot cake and fresh baked bread. After they left we discovered lots of little surprise treats as well. Ponies and chickens visited and our dog Alfie was so entranced that on the day we left I literally had to drag him back into our car. The bed was so comfortable we both slept better than at home on our new bed there. Thanks to Lee and Debbie we returned home refreshed, renewed and relaxed - the three nicest Rs Thanks u 2 so nice to meet you both.

"What a little Gem!"
Just back from a few days away at Lower Colbiggan and it was wonderful! Debbie and Lee make you feel so welcome and the little touches are just lovely. That chocolate and orange cake will take me weeks to work off!! :-) The cottage is beautifully decorated and finished. The shower-room is small, but functional and clean. The kitchen is well equipped and has all the "mod-cons" required. I loved the fact the ponies were just outside the door and the chickens were wondering around. The fresh eggs make the most wonderful breakfasts! The wildlife around the cottage is fab. I sat and watched the birds (some of which I had to look up in a book to identify!) for hours. Located down a tarmac track, there are some speed humps worth watching out for if you happen to have a slightly "towny" car like us! They are fine if you take very slowly! It's a great location to visit all of the local attractions, Eden Project is just down the road, although shut when we went due to burst main! All the beautiful coastal resorts are also within easy reach. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and Debbie and Lee really do go that extra mile to make you welcome! THANK YOU!

"Perfect relaxing break!"
It was a fantastic winter break with our 2 dogs, made so easy by the very accomodating hosts who were so welcoming, even baked us a lovely chocolate cake for our arrival, and couldn't have done more for us for during our stay. The cottage sits on its own huge paddock but is totally secure so we could let our dogs run free without worry they might escape - and fortunately when the 3 ponies wondered up to the house, despite our dogs efforts to terrorise them, the ponies were not too put out! Although the cottage is 10 metres or so from the main house, it feels totally private. Inside is very spacious yet very warm and cosy, especially when you get the fire roaring. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and there was always instant hot water for very nice showers! Although we had torrential rain more or less for the whole trip, we still found plenty of great villages and pubs 15 minutes away, and also its quite easy to leave the car at home and head out for walks that are right on the doorstep. All in all, really can't fault our stay, it was so relaxing, in a beautiful setting with lovely hosts - next time we'd like to come back when there's a bit of sun! Thanks a lot :)
