As soon as guests arrive at Hawkswood House they know they are somewhere special from the great care and attention to detail by the Owners in the design of such as lovely property. We offer 5 luxury en-suite bedrooms with the flexibility of being double or twin accommodation. Two glorious reception rooms with log burners, a conservatory with dining facilities and French windows lead out to the summer terrace. On the first floor the terraced balcony provides the perfect setting for breakfast or evening drinks in the warmer months. A top of the range kitchen diner for parties who wish to self-cater or our team will arrange for all staffing requirements from a butler to waiting staff and a private Chef.

Hawkswood House also has a sister property next door - The Roundel which will be open for bookings from March 2016. Each property can be rented separately or clients can book both properties which are part of the Hawkswood Collection. This will give you a total of 10 en-suite luxury bedrooms.

For keen golfers, this is the ultimate private property, with easy access to dozens of fine courses. But whilst golf is bound to be the main attraction, Hawkswood House has plenty to offer for romantic breaks, longer holidays, and groups of friends looking for a relaxing country escape.

At Hawkswood House we cater for the golfer. So, in order to improve your short game skills, before visiting one of the great golf courses in nearby St Andrews, we have built your very own Short Game Area in our grounds.

Our Short Game Area was designed and built by a golf professional, to provide the perfect practice area for honing your short game. The course has 4 pitching mats, 6 holes and two bunkers, providing a wide range of lies and distances. This offers the opportunity to practice a variety of shots.

You can unwind in our Hydro Spa, with room for all. It offers 43 state-of-the-art jets that relieve-tension in targeted areas including your back, neck, shoulders and calves by cascading up and down your back.

Enjoy dining al fresco with our impressive Mediterranean barbecue and outdoor patio area. Perfect for entertaining or simply relaxing with friends and family.

If you wish to dine out, the renowned restaurant the Peat Inn is a short distance, and St Andrews offers a wide choice of both fine and casual dining. A chef can be arranged in advance if you wish to dine in the house or an advanced food shopping service is available.

Shuttle bus service available on request, please ask for details at the time of booking.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

St Andrews is best known as the 'home of golf' but this delightful historic town also offers excellent shopping, art galleries, Botanic Gardens and museums, and magnificent golden beaches. It also has far more restaurants and cafes than you would expect for a town of its size, ranging from fine dining, like the fabulous Rocca Grill, to cosy coffee shops and ice cream parlours.

In its heyday St Andrews Cathedral was a centre of pilgrimage and the largest church in Scotland. The museum has an excellent collection of sculptures including a superbly carved Pictish sarcophagus, and your ticket includes the chance to enjoy the incredible views from the top of St Rule's Tower. You can also visit the British Golf Museum, which is handily situated not far from 18th Green of the Old Course.

For something a little different, the East Neuk is a string of fishing villages for which the word 'picturesque' might have been invented.

Other recommended day trips include Falkland Palace, the Secret Bunker, St Andrews Aquarium, St Andrews Castle and the
Scottish Fisheries Museum at Anstruther.

And when only the buzz of a big city will do, Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow are all easily reached by car.

St. Andrews

Nowhere else can beat Scotland for golf courses. There are more than 40 in Fife alone, including some of the oldest in Scotland and arguably the world's finest links courses.

In addition to the iconic Old Course, St Andrews has six other courses, including the New Course and the Jubilee Course, which date from 1895 and 1897. The 9-hole Balgove Course is ideal for beginners and families.

Beyond St Andrews itself, we especially recommend Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, both of which are within easy striking distance.

At Kingarrock you can even play in the old style with wooden-shafted clubs.

Whatever your level of play, our dedicated golf concierge will be delighted to help arrange your golfing itinerary, and all the details of a perfect day on the course.

With the combination of award-winning sandy beaches, historic castles and attractions, Fife is a small region with a big sense of adventure.

Your Hawkswood concierge will be delighted to organise a full programme of sports and leisure pursuits for you and your guests. Here are just some of the many activities that can be included:

Off-Road driving
Land yachting
Coastal walks

Watersports
Horse riding
Kart racing
Fishing
Cycling
Swimming
Hawkswood House staff and cars are available to drive you to and from venues and activity centres should you require it.

A beautiful, well equipped house for our New Year weekend. Lovely bedrooms, conservatory and not forgetting the hot tub! We had a great time in a great location.

Thank you for your kind review and for looking after the House so well and leaving tidy on your departure which is very much appreciated. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future.
