The Scotland region

Edinburgh is around 1hr away by car or train. Good bus services also. Not forgetting The Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe every August. The famous medieval castle and traditional Military Tattoo.

Glasgow is a little further 1.5hrs drive but offers a lot for art and architecture lovers. It has a singularly beautiful Gothic cathedral, plus Victorian and art nouveau building design at every turn - not to mention the prestigious Burrell Collection of art and the historic turn-of-the-century Tenement House.

Perth is an hour away and is often referred to as 'The gateway to the Highlands". If you want to experience beautiful hills and explore Scotland further afield this is an excellent place to start.

St. Andrews

St Andrews is situated on the east coast of Scotland. A beautiful historic town and a marvellous shopping experience. Excellent restaurants and theatres. It is a marvellous base for exploring the East Neuk of Fife.

The East Neuk is old and fascinating, filled with quaint fishing towns and other little treasures like The Secret bunker which was one of Scotland's best kept secrets, now open to the public to give an insight into the command centre that would have been used in the event of a nuclear war.

There are now 7 Golf courses run by the St Andrews Links Trust:- including the Old Course. Many other course are nearby - The Duke's Course, the new Kingsbarns Course and traditional links courses at Elie, Crail, Leven and Lundin Links.

Very close to St Andrews is Magus Muir, marked by a cairn, where Archbishop Sharp was murdered in 1679. The murder of Arch Bishop Sharp is re-enacted every year by the students of St Andrews during the Kate Kennedy Procession, held around the end of April.

Also enjoy beautiful walks including the Fife Coastal Walk - Long Distance Footpath around the coast and fishing villages of Fife, with shorter segments that are easier walking than the whole route. Excellent bird watching opportunities.

Auchtermuchty is on the road from Edinburgh to St. Andrews. As the setting for the recent TV episodes of Dr. Finlay's Casebook, it may well be of interest to those travelling to and from St. Andrews.

Dundee is a half hour drive from St Andrews, and offers a good shopping experience, for those looking for the larger stores.

“Immaculate property beautifully appointed in wonderful location.”

Reviewed 28 May 2015

I've stayed in lots of lovely properties in St. Andrews but this is undoubtedly the best so far. First of all, the location is wonderful, directly above the iconic cafe 'where Kate met Wills'. It's right in the centre of town and everything is within easy walking distance, making your car completely redundant during your stay. The flat itself is absolutely stunning. The kitchen/lounge area is beautifully furnished and finished. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could possibly need and is finished beautifully, down to the stunning granite worktops. The lounge area is very comfortably furnished with a gorgeous chesterfield and very very comfortable armchair, and the smart TV with Netflix means the kids can stay entertained if the weather takes a turn for the worse. It's this attention to detail that makes all the difference. The bedrooms are gorgeous, with very comfortable beds, beautiful furniture and a lovely light airy feel. The bathroom is again beautifully finished akin to a boutique hotel and the shower is spacious and powerful. Overall I can't fault this property, we had a wonderful stay and will be returning again soon.

“Exceptionally Finished Apartment in the Centre of Beautiful St Andrews”

Reviewed 25 May 2015

My husband I stayed here at the beginning of May for a long weekend and literally cannot fault the accommodation. We have been to St Andrews a few times now and this is without doubt the best property we have stayed at yet. The property is ideally located in the heart of this beautiful town with all amenities on the doorstep. The property is fully furnished and of a very high quality finish. The bathroom would rival many boutique hotels! The living room bay window serves as a nice vista point allowing views right up and down North Street. Everything was brand new, beautifully furnished and the bed offered a luxurious and peaceful night's sleep. There are lots of great shops, bars and restaurants only minutes away and this is true of the golf course too. Parking is available for free outside although it is not always possible to get a space depending what time of day it is. The Smart TV and Wi-Fi were great too as we could log in to our own Netflix account as if in the comfort of our own home. I would definitely recommend this lovely spacious apartment and cannot wait to go back. The only disappointment was having to leave - I could have stayed for a fortnight in this place! A truly amazing long weekend at a fair price, can't wait to do it again! Many thanks!!

“Stunning all mod cons apartment in the heart of the old town”

Reviewed 19 May 2015

We had a fantastic stay in this stunning apartment which had just been renovated when we moved in, we could still smell the paint! The location is a dream, in the heart of the old town with views out to the castle from our window. The apartment was very spacious with all mod cons, two bedrooms and a large bathroom complete with a TV and internet access. The owner was professional and friendly and very helpful with his recommendations around St Andrews. We were able to walk everywhere and were very lucky with the weather - St Andrews is its own micro-climate, it would appear - so we enjoyed golfing, strolling across the west sands in the morning and visiting all the historical landmarks. An insider tip - the Northpoint cafe next door is a gem and serves great American-style breakfasts, its also where the royal couple William and Kate would have lunch when they were students! Overall we were delighted with our stay and would recommend it to anyone, there can't be many apartments of this quality hidden away in the old town. Thanks again, we'll be back!
