Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Experience the magic of Moray Speyside. Explore the picturesque fishing villages, secluded coves and sublime beaches of the Moray coast and keep an eye out for the dolphins of the Moray Firth. Follow Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail through the heart of 'Malt Whisky Country', touring some of Speyside's legendary distilleries. See historic castles, ancient cathedrals and intriguing standing stones that speak of the region's Pictish past.

Speyside

Elgin- 15 minute drive from Kellas Estate.
Nestled in the world-famous whisky region, Elgin lies on the south coast of the Moray Firth roughly midway between Inverness and Aberdeen and straddles the River Lossie.
The town offers many pleasant characteristics, breathtaking scenery and a number of local distilleries including Glenmoray, Gordon & MacPhail and Glen Elgin, most of which have open days for the public and whisky trails.
On North College Street is the lovely ruin of Elgin Cathedral. Once considered Scotland's most beautiful cathedral, rivalling St Andrews in importance, today it is little more than a shell, though it does retain its original facade. Unusual features include the Pictish cross slab in the middle of the ruins and the cracked gravestones with their memento mori of skulls and crossbones.

Lossiemouth- 20 minute drive from Kellas Estate
Often referred as 'the jewel of the Moray Firth', is a golf-oriented resort on the north west coast of Scotland.
Blessed with two sandy beaches, glorious dunes and beautiful countryside, the town is a great getaway place from the stresses of modern life. Visitors can enjoy the long pleasant walks along the beach and soak up the town's tranquil atmosphere. The town is great for sailing and boat rides for dolphin spotting or sea angling while watersports enthusiasts, particularly surfers, will enjoy the waves.

Nairn- 30 minute drive from Kellas Estate.
It is an attractive seaside town with a prime location on the Moray Firth and is one of the driest and sunniest places in Scotland.
Visitors can enjoy the sandy beaches, riverside walks, the promenade with fantastic views over the Moray Firth, golf on two championship golf courses, and plenty of good restaurants and shopping around.

Inverness-45 minute drive from Kellas Estate
It's one of Scotland's seven cities and sits in the south of the Highlands, on the banks of the River Ness.
Crowned by a pink crenellated castle and lavishly decorated with flowers, Inverness is a thriving city with a rich variety of places to visit and things to do both in the city and around. The city boasts a number of historic buildings in the Old Town that can be appreciated while browsing city shops. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink too with peaceful areas close to the city centre for relaxing and a great variety of places to stay. The city itself is small, compact and easy to get around.
