The Old Smithy is a recently refurbished holiday property with two bedrooms (one double, one twin), two bathrooms (en-suite to double plus separate family bathroom), and large open plan kitchen / dining / lounge with tri-fold doors leading to private secure garden area laid mostly to patio. TVs with Freeview channels in lounge area and double bedroom. Wood burner in lounge area (with supply of logs), ideal for keeping cosy on cold days. Kitchen has fridge-freezer, oven with gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washer-dryer. It's located in a conservation area in a village described as 'the quintessential English village'. Pets welcome by prior agreement. £20 per pet, per week.

“Very comfortable and well equipped cottage, in a peaceful environment.”
Martin made us very welcome and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Some really good walks along the nearby canals, which also have excellent pubs. We would recommend any of our friends to stay here, and next time we are in the area we would certainly stay.
“Great pet-friendly holiday cottage ...”
Very comfortable and well equipped, roomy cottage in delightful village location. Lots of great walks for our dog (and us). Beautiful part of Warwickshire with lots to see and do ... and pubs to visit. Owner lives close by for anything required (we did not need anything as cottage so well equipped.) Welcome package (wine, home baked cake and milk) a very nice touch.

“Fantastic in every way!”
This has to be one of the best self catering properties I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in quite a few!! Lovely setting with private, sunny garden opening into the large and very comfortable living space tastefully decorated.Lots of quirky features that add to the appeal of the property. Very welcome wine and delicious cake(baked by the owner's daughter) on arrival! The village was charming and perfectly placed to explore the surrounding area including places like Warwick, Oxford, Stratford. I can recommend this property wholeheartedly and intend to return for another visit!

“Comfortable and warm welcome”
Long term stay (almost a month). We were made most welcome by Martin and Snowy. Our dogs loved the available local walks. The nearby local amenities are very good, but the lemon drizzle cake made by Martin's daughter was an even bigger success. Shame about the pub, The Hollybush. We will come again.

“Stunning cottage, beautiful surroundings, A+.”
I booked the cottage for myself, my husband & my parents. My father and husband had tickets for the British Grand Prix. Silverstone was about 20-30 mins away and the cottage looked lovely. We originally booked for the end of June and then the Grand Prix dates were changed....nightmere!! However the cottage was available for the new dates, I rang and spoke to owner Martin and he was only too happy to accommodate. It took a lot of sorting due to holiday lettings, but Martin was great and we eventually got it sorted. A week before our arrival Martin (the owner) e-mail over some extra information for our stay - directions to get there, local amenities and places of interest - very thoughtful and extremely useful. Now to the stay The cottage is open plan, stone floor with high ceilings and can feel a bit chilly at times. However there is a combi boiler to warm the house, a woodbuner (which we did not need to use) and the owners have also provided a fan heater for instant heat and a number of heat packs to warm in the microwave if need be. We stayed in summer ... but bet the cottage would be lovely and toasty in winter. The cottage is beautifully decorated with everything you could possibly need - dishwasher, washer/dryer, maiden, iron, ironing board, hairdyer, 3 TV's, DVD player, music system, game console, coffee machine, bookcases full of books, cd's & dvd's. With nothing done on the cheap!! The owners provided coffee for the machine, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, some food bits and bobs, a bottle of white wine, milk and a stunning home made cake for when we arrived. The owners ask you to bring your own towels, which I thought was a bit of a pain, until I saw what they do provide and taking my own towels pailed into insignificance. The garden/patio area is lovely, very secluded and private. It has a table and chairs for alfresco dinning but also has comfy patio furniture with cushions stored in your own shed. The owners must be into their music as the cottage had a good sound system, hundreds if not thousands of CD's and music artwork on the walls. The local pub is just out the driveway and around the corner- 2mins walk away. The menu was quite limited but the food was superb. Good quality, locally sourced food, cooked well and served with a smile. It wasn't cheap bar food and the prices reflected the quality. We ate there three nights out of our seven night stay. Southam is about a 20min drive away, a small town with a tesco, a lovely chippy, curry takeaway and two chinese takeaways - also a Greek restaurant we never got around to trying. Great location as very close to Lemington Spa, Warwick, Banbury and Stratford-upon-avon. The owners have put a wi-fi router in the cottage, however they don't advertise the cottage as having wi-fi as the signal is not great and it keeps dropping in and out. But it is there and does work for short bursts. It was a lovely cottage and a stunning holiday, would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
