Welcome to Airigh nam Fiadh (or the Deer Pasture), a newly built, luxury, eco friendly self catering house in West Gerinish, South Uist which sleeps 6 comfortably. The house has been finished to an exceptional standard to offer you the highest quality of accommodation on your visit to South Uist.
Airigh nam Fiadh has 2 double bedrooms (with en-suite shower rooms), a twin room with an adjacent family bathroom (with separate shower and whirlpool bath), a large open plan contemporary kitchen & dining area (with stunning views of the South Uist hills), utility room and living room with wonderful views of Loch Bee and the hills of Skye on a clear day. The house has underfloor heating throughout with a beautiful fireplace and multi fuel stove.
Airigh nam Fiadh provides the perfect setting for your holiday. The views are spectacular and the house is located by the shores of Loch Bee - perfect for fishing, bird watching, wind surfing, kayaking or simply taking a relaxing stroll by the water.
West Gerinish is situated to the north of South Uist and is a great base for visits throughout the islands. The house is a short drive from a sandy beach and the ocean. The village remains true to its crofting background with many of the locals keeping cattle and working the machair lands which make Uist so unique. Gaidhlig is the native tongue in the village and you'll no doubt pick up at least a few phrases by the end of your visit.
Airigh nam Fiadh is run almost exclusively on renewable energy. The house is well insulated and heated by a ground source heat pump with electricity supplied by a non intrusive small wind turbine on the owner's adjacent croft.
Airigh nam Fiadh provides the perfect accommodation for a memorable visit to the islands!

“Stunning location, wonderful house with the perfect host.”
Our second visit. A great place from which to explore the delights of the Uists. It's a lovely spacious, well equipped and appointed house, close to Loch Bee with a view from every window. Allan is very helpful and the perfect host. We enjoyed another splendid week walking in the hills, by the lochs and along the beaches with lots of wildlife to observe all around.
We couldn't fault this amazing place. Allan was a fantastic host, nothing was a problem and he had thought of everything. The house was immaculately clean, super spacious and comfortable.Over looking the gorgeous Loch Bee, we had Stags every evening and the kids loved the wild ponies, we were even lucky enough to see an eagle on our last night. The location of this property is excellent for visiting both ends of the Uists. A particular highlight for us was Eriskay, we thoroughly enjoyed our boat trip with the Uists Sea Tours, even though we didnt see any dolphins as we had hoped, it was lovely to see the islands from the water. I cant recommend this place highly enough.
“Amazing, good as it sounds, self-catering holiday property”
We are tardy in sending our review of Airigh nam Fiadh but have not forgotten what a truly wonderful place it was to stay in. It is very thoughtfully furnished and presented, with plenty of space for our extended family. We had pretty good weather whilst staying but had it not been the case we would have happily spent days chilling at the property. A good central location for all the Outer Hebrides - we managed a day trip as far as Lewis & Harris. Sunsets, skies (day & night) and beaches to die for everywhere. Alan the owner is on hand to chat, give advice, as much or as little as you need. No hesitation in recommending this brilliant property!
“A great escape in a marvellous and unique natural environment.”
A fantastic location with walks and wonderful views from the house. The house was very well equipped and comfortable with great hosts. There is plenty to do and everyone we met was friendly and pleasant. Shops only a short drive away.
“What a great place!”
Airigh nam Fiadh has exceeded all our expectations and is the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. It is light, airy, spacious and comfortably furnished to a very high standard. There are excellent views of the loch with hills and mountains beyond and it lived up to its name with deer grazing just outside the garden. It is in a quiet spot set back from the road but is close to the half way point between Barra in the South and Berneray in the North so makes a very convenient base for exploring the area. Alan made us really welcome and was extremely helpful and bursting with information. We hope to return before long and have no hesitation in recommending it wholeheartedly.
“Location, location, location”
Half way down the chain, no more than a 40 minute drive from anywhere on Uist, this well equipped, brand new house is an excellent base. Friendly, helpful owner, a position convenient for, but not on the main road, and on a clear day ...mountain views. One of the best holiday lets we've had.
“Lovely house , lovely location central for for touring the islands”
we had a warm welcome at the house which was brand new and we were the first to stay in it. Every thing in the house was spotless , all the rooms and interior design were well thought out and the kitchen was well equipped , we really enjoyed ourselves.
