Description

Spa Chalet is a Victorian 150 year old Swiss-style holiday home that was designed by the Crystal Palace creator Sir Joseph Paxton in the late 1850's. It was totally restored to it's former glory by its present owners in 2009. Built into South Cliff a few feet above the sands, it is the towns most unusual heritage home and possibly the only detached house on this famous seafront.

The house has been completely refurbished and modernised from top to bottom, whilst retaining the many period features. On the first floor of the house entrance level, there is a beautiful lounge with sea views, a large dining/kitchen area which comprises of a combined washer/dryer, dishwasher and a stainless steel range style oven. Also on this level is the master bedroom which has an impressive en-suite with a roll top bath, and an additional double bedroom and a completely tiled wet room.

On the ground floor there are a further three double bedrooms, all with en-suites. The layout

“Glorious views and total relaxation”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2015

We have stayed at Spa Chalet a number of times and have been blessed with good weather which has meant that we have been woken to fantastic sun rising over the South Bay over sparkling sea; I don't believe there is a better view in Scarborough. The chalet is spacious and pretty well equipped, with good size kitchen, comfortable and light lounge areas and a balcony overlooking the bay. One of the best views is at night with the lights from the fair ground reflected in the bay. With the centre of town under 10 minutes walk away over the Spa bridge and short walks down to the beach and the Spa Complex this is a ideal spot to capture the best of Scarborough. Being able to bring our dogs is a real boost and will certainly be staying here again. The only problem for those with disabilities are the steps up to the entrance

Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review about our chalet in Scarborough and we are pleased that you had another great stay. We hope to see you again in the future! Best wishes, Paul & Pippa

“An Original and Very Special Place”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2015

The Chalet is lovely. It has many wonderful eccentric original features both inside and out. There are fantastic sea views from the bedrooms and kitchen/dining room-it's like being on a boat!It is very light. There is plenty of space. The beds are very comfortable and all with spacious adjoining bathrooms.Everything that is required is provided in a generous way including a great supply of tea, coffee, milk, and toilet rolls! The flowers were a lovely touch. It is a short walk into the centre of Scarborough and all facilities. We loved our exclusive drive up to the house! We loved the fact that you can see the house from virtually everywhere in the town-it is so iconic! We spent a lot of time just being there/sitting on the wonderful balcony gazing out at the beach and pottering about .Great!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review about our chalet in Scarborough. Call me bias... (haha) but I agree that it is truly an amazing chalet and we are really pleased that you had a enjoyable stay. We hope to see you again in the future! With thanks and best wishes, Paul & Pippa

“A great location for a family gathering”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2015

The Spa Chalet is in a great location with panoramic views of Scarborough. A unique spacious period house with lovely features, very tastefully furnished yet with all modern facilities. It's conveniently situated within walking distance of the town and beaches, and is an ideal base for a large party of family or friends. Our extended family enjoyed spending Christmas 2014 together at this lovely property. The booking system and communication were very efficient, and the property was very clean on arrival. The Chalet may not be suitably accessible for elderly or disabled people because of the steep steps. We enjoyed watching people walking but hirers may like to be in a more private location.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your Christmas stay in Spa Chalet and we are really pleased that you enjoyed our chalet and all that Scarborough has to offer. We hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, Paul & Pippa

“Perfect for a family get away”

Reviewed 21 May 2014

This is the second year we have stayed at the Spa Chalet and I can't recommend it highly enough, the building itself is beautiful and very well positioned for whatever kind of break you want and the views are just spectacular. All of the bedrooms are well presented with nice clean linen and the kitchen is fully stocked, I don't remember once finding there was anything that we needed that wasn't already there, the hourse is more than big enough to not feel like you are under each others feet but still feels cosy. We had 1 child with us during our stay who was 3 at the time of first staying and found no issues with her around the house, we also took 2 dogs with us and although there is no garden there is grass on the side of the house which was very handy for letting them have the last stretch of their legs on a night but they were tired out from all the running on the beach which has a dog friendly section right off the road in front of the Chalet. We have had a great break each time we have been and have decided to make it an annual trip as we never seem to fit everything into our holiday!

Thank you for your lovely review of Spa Chalet and we are pleased that you have enjoyed your last few visits there. We hope to see you again in the future for your annual UK holiday! All the best Paul

“Absolutely fabulous”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2013

We had a wonderful week in this house. Location perfect we did not use the cars all week. The house has been beautifully restored and attention to detail means that everything you need is there. It is very clean and with four of five bedrooms having ensuite there is no problem with showers etc. We also took our two dogs who had a great time on the beach ( very close to the house dogs are allowed). Would highly recommend but please don't get too booked up as we will definitely return.

Thank you for your kind words

“What a stunning holiday home”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2012

This is a unique house in a wonderful location. No near neighbours but only a stone's throw from the town and beach. A lot of thought has obviously gone into the internal layout, which worked beautifully for our family of 8 - plenty of space for us to all be together, and plenty of our own space if we wanted it. Spectacular views, not only from the open plan kitchen/dining room, but also from 3 of the 5 bedrooms. The service we recieved from booking onwards was excellent, extremely efficient and considerate, and we cannot wait to go back there!

Thank you for kind words and we do look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Paul
