“Great place to stay without the resort pricing”
We all really really enjoyed this apartment my kids in particular. The location is great just a short 15 minute drive to the areas best beaches. The villa had plenty of room I thought my two kids would share the spare bedroom but they ended up fighting about who got the couch because the living room is so comfortable with morning breezes and the wonderful view. The kitchen has what you need to have a few simple meals at home. It is a short walk to the nearby market to buy beer and water and a candy for the kids. You will need a car and driving in Saint Lucia takes a bit of effort as the roads and narrow and steep. Do take Martin up on his offer to meet you at the airport it helps you get your bearings. We recommend the plantation nearby for a meal out along with the restaurant on the beach at Anse Chastasnet.
“Excellent value for the money”
Martin met us at the airport, which was no small thing because it took us almost an hour to get through Customs. He then patiently waited the additional 20 minutes it took for Hertz to give us our rental car, then guided us to his house after a stop at a grocery store for staples. I definitely recommend having him lead you to the house - we would have never found it otherwise. The best part of the house is the patio that looks out at the Pitons. We had every breakfast each morning out there and watched several sunsets - it was lovely. The house had all we needed, and was very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a modern, fancy looking place, you will be disappointed. The driveway is steep, the shower handle in the master bathroom is just a metal stick, the sofas and chairs are old-fashioned and kind of uncomfortable, and there were some neighborhood dogs quite a bit at night. But these things were not a big deal for us. The location near the Pitons, not far from Soufriere, was perfect. It was very close to the fabulous Ladera Resort where we enjoyed the most beautiful sunset views while sipping cocktails. We also had a nice meal at the French Boucan Restaurant right across from it, where every item on the menu contains chocolate from their cocoa plantation. Sugar Beach is close by, where we enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling, and the Tet Paul hike is highly recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone who is interested in saving money while taking advantage of the island.
“location + view + value”
We enjoyed our stay very much. Thanks to Martin for guiding us from the airport and for being a very friendly and welcoming host. While not at the beach or driving around the island, we spent most of our time out on the wonderful large balcony enjoying the incredible view (IMO pretty similar to the view you get from Landera for $800 a night). The villa is less than secluded, being on the main road and near multiple neighbors, but it's elevated enough on the hillside that it still feels set apart. Absolutely stunning view of the big Piton and the sea. The apt. is clean and safe; nothing glamorous but totally functional. Would definitely stay again. If you have a car rental, the villa is a perfectly located base for visiting the nearby beaches, including our favorites Sugar Beach (closest and most convenient--about a 25 min drive from the villa) and Anse Chastanet. Be advised that the road north of the villa through Soufriere is very windy and narrow and makes a day trip up north to Castries/Gros Islet pretty challenging, especially to be back by dark (IMO a must for road safety reasons). Staying at Piton Villa with a car though is great though if you want to mostly explore the south of the island during the day and come home to the villa for sunset. Also, be advised that food options on the south part of the island at least are pretty limited. There are almost no restaurants in the area outside of the $$$$ hotels, and the supermarkets in Soufriere and Laborie have frozen stuff but surprisingly little produce or fresh fish. We did OK cooking but were hoping to make better use of the great kitchen at Piton Vista Villa.
“Excellent holiday villa in ideal location”
We had a great stay in St Lucia at the start of March, and felt very happy with our choice of villa and location. Martin & Joanna were very welcoming and helpful, but also mindful of giving us private space. Martin met us at the airport and guided us back which made the first journey far easier. The Villa, including pictures, is exactly as advertised. We had no problems and found everything very comfortable. Location is often difficult to choose in a destination you are not familiar with - I cannot recommend enough staying in this location near Soufriere / Laborie. It is still possible to explore the entire island from here - it is essential to hire a car but actually the drive is fun through incredible landscape - but my personal opinion is that the south is significantly better than the north. If I went back I'd visit the North for less than a day on the way to the airport only.
“The location and price was perfect for us”
The place was great and we had a great view of Gros Piton, the ocean and landscape. Air condition in bedroom and in family room and they worked great and quick. Most of our activities involved the Soufriere area which was only about a 15 min ride away. We did the sulphur tour, mud bath, climbed the Gros Piton which is straight up once you get to the half point and your legs really feel this the next day. We also went scuba diving in Anse Chastanet which was the best!! It was so colorful and you were at the dive site within 2 minutes. We scuba in the North part of the Island which was not anywhere as colorful as the south. The owner met us at the airport so that we could follow him to the place. The street signs are not marked well even thou its just the main road but it helps to learn to stay on the left when you follow someone. Driving was fine since there isn't much traffic until you get to the North in one section.
“Great accommodations, view, and landlords”
The apartment is spacious, clean, and just right for our stay. We were able to enjoy our mornings on the patio looking at the Gros Piton and watching the birds visit in the trees surrounding the balcony. A quiet and restful spot close to Soufriere and nearby attractions such as the volcano and botanical garden. Martin and Joanna were great hosts and were able to set up some tours for us with people they knew. We would definitely stay again! A car or a driver is necessary since the drive connects to a main road and you would have to walk miles to get to town on a busy road.
“Experience Real St Lucia”
Accommodation was really good. Beds were comfortable and shower worked well, with lots of hot water. The kitchen was good and fully equiped for our needs. We did not make use of the BBQ. The only real draw back is the distance to the supermarket - the nearest one is in Soufriere (15 minute drive). Martin provided lots of advice on places to see and things to do, and sorted out a hike up Gros Piton, at very short notive. The view from the balcony of the Pitons and across the sea to St Vincent was excellent.
“Perfect location for independent traveller with a car to see the world heritage Pitons and surrounding attractions”
My wife and I stayed 3 nights with our teenaged son. The place was great for us with two bedrooms and 2 baths and a great balcony with a view of the Grand Piton. The house if very pretty with lots of flowers and the family is very friendly and helpful. The driveway is very steep (like much of the driving on St. Lucia) but it's a skill that can be mastered.
“What their ad says is all true”
I like when people deliver what they have promised and that is exactly what the owner of the property does. What he says about the apartment is all true, there is no exageration. The view from the apartment is just amazing, the owner and his family are very nice people, always willing to help.
“Great views and lovely people”
Martin and Joanna could not have been more helpful. The views from the apartment were some of the best in St Lucia. The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable. It is positioned very well for visiting many of the islands top attractions. we enjoyed the noise of the frogs and crickets during the night but were less impressed by the noise from dogs and traffic. We do live in a very quiet area and others may not find this such a problem. You must sample the fantastic pizzas which are made to order by Alvin who lives just over the road.
