The estate is very proud of its untouched nature reserves, and has areas of some significance when it comes to bird and wildlife.
Late in 2005 the first European Beavers introduced back into England were released and are thriving in a far corner of the estate.
There are viewing hides from where they can be watched.
The estate is also home to a wide range of Bird life, from waterfowl to owls.
Details of guided walks and the best spots are available from the property or the estate office.
There is some excellent fishing on the estate, both coarse fishing and fly fishing.
The coarse fishing is specialised and mostly specimen fishing, and the lakes would be classified as 'challenging' and not really suitable for beginners. As a tenant you are able to fish (within the estate fishing rules) details of which are available at the house. The fishing is managed by a permanent tenant on the estate, who will be happy to point you in the right direction, and show you the hotspots.

The Cotswolds region
The Lower Mill Estate is on the edge of the Cotswold village of Somerford Keynes. The village amenities include a public house with a restaurant. The town of Cirencester is approx. 6 miles to the North and has a comprehensive range of shopping and leisure activities, and provides easy access to explore the whole Cotswold region. There is plenty to explore on your doorstep, with fantastic walk around the lakes within the estate, fishing, cycling and exploring the water park region of the Cotswolds.
There is a small farm shop on the Estate supplying local produce and supplies, firewood, wine and some home cooked food and bakery items

We stayed at this lovely cottage over a long weekend. It was the perfect getaway for a relaxing weekend. The cottage itself was fantastically kept, with underfloor heating for those cold autumn months. It was extremely homely and fully equipped with anything one may possibly need (including plenty of board games). We went as a couple but can imagine it would be perfect for a family as well, as there is plenty of space/bathrooms. Would wholeheartedly recommend this to any travelers or anyone seeking respite from busy city life. The location is stunning with beautiful walks and lakes dotted all around with small, cute villages only a short drive away.

"Very Sweet Ideally Located Cotswolds Water Park Cottage"
This lovely cottage is located in a holiday village in the Cotswolds Water Park. The water park is a very picturesque series of man made lakes with extremely tasteful holiday cottages built sensitively around them with loads of wildlife and polite families. The cottage is very sweet and the owner runs it with ease and the minimum of fuss. The cottage is not located in the typical Cotswold pretty old villages but it is within close driving distance of Bibery and other old river towns. For people with young kids, the nearby canoeing, water boarding and go-cycle are ideal and I would definitely recommend.
