Description

Horseshoe Cottage is a three bedroomed self catering single storey cottage set in the grounds of Somerford Hall Farm, the old servants quarters of an 18th century stately home.

Boasting far reaching views, and an enclosed garden, we are sure that you will enjoy a relaxing stay.

One mile from the main road, and yet only a 5 minute drive to the local shops means that you get the best of both worlds.

A peaceful tranquil setting, but convenient for local amenities. We welcome families and are close to local places of interest, including The Peak District, Alton Towers, Chester Zoo, Tatton Park, Little Moreton Hall, Biddulph Grange, Manchester, and have good train connections at Congleton, Holmes Chapel and Crewe. Manchester airport is only 18 miles away.

Sited on Somerford Park Farm's famous farm ride, you get to watch the horses go by, and if you are lucky enough to have your own, you can enjoy it first hand!

The accommodation comprises open lounge, diner

The England region

Cheshire is a county in North West England. Cheshire's county town is the city of Chester, although the largest town since county boundary changes in 1974 is Warrington (previously in Lancashire). Other major towns include Widnes, Congleton, Crewe, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, Macclesfield, Winsford, Northwich, and Wilmslow with bordering counties of Derbyshire to the east, Staffordshire and Shropshire to the south, and Flintshire and Wrexham in Wales to the west.
Cheshire's area is 2,343 square kilometres (905 sq mi) and its population is around 700,000. Apart from the large towns along the River Mersey and the historic city of Chester, it is mostly rural, with a number of small towns and villages that support an agricultural industry. It is historically famous as a former principality and for the production of Cheshire cheese] salt, bulk chemicals, and woven silk.

Northern England

Congleton is a small market town in England in the south-east corner of Cheshire. It is situated about 6 miles east of the M6 at junctions 17 & 18. Major Conurbations within one hour drive of Congleton are Manchester and its International Airport, Liverpool, Birmingham, Chester, Warrington, Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe and Macclesfield.

It is also within easy reach of the Cheshire Plain, Peak District, Lake District and the Welsh mountains and coast.

During the summer months a stroll through the Public Parks (including The historic Congleton Park) will find you amazed with the floral colours and displays. All thanks to Congletons green fingered council team .Children will also love the many play areas around the borough too.

If it is cycling or walking you are looking for or other outdoor pursuits such as golf, fishing and bird watching, then the natural beauty and landscape of the Congleton area can provide the perfect backdrop.

“A little piece of paradise”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2012

We stayed at Horseshoe Cottage for just over 2 months while visiting family and friends in the UK last summer. It is one the most splendid places we have ever stayed. Set within stunning surroundings in the countryside but close enough to Congleton and Holmes Chapel. It is a good place for relaxing and spending time with your loved ones. The Cottage is full of charm and it has everything one needs for day to day life. It is nicely furnished and decorated. It is modern and has lovely high ceilings. Lovely doors and windows. There is a lot of natural light and even in rainy days it’s nice to look out to a beautiful countryside. It is a baby and toddler friendly place which was one of the selling points for us. The garden is a really good size and the hot tub is a real luxury. So nice to step into it after a long day of work. The bedrooms are all nice, good size and comfortable. There is plenty to see/do in the idyllic Cheshire countryside and you will never be bored. The owners live on site and they are the most welcoming and friendly people. We would definitely recommend Horseshoe Cottage to family and friends and will certainly stay there again.

Thank you for your lovely review. It was lovely to have you staying with us and we really look forward to welcoming you back :)
