Location description from owner

The Wales region

Sunny Solva - The area that forms the Peninsular thrusts out into the Atlantic and because it is the most westerly part of Wales it has it's own unique weather system - nothing between us and the prevailing winds following the gulf stream from America. As result it can often be sunny in Solva and raining in Haverfordwest as the clouds have no land mass to form over until they get a little inland. The rugged coastline of northern Pembrokeshire is renowned for it's beauty with imposing 300ft cliffs falling to the clear waters of St Brides Bay. Beaches as stunning as Barafundle are hard to beat and several major films have used this beautiful area as sets - Harry Potter, Robin Hood and Moby Dick to mention a few of our celebrities. During 2014 a remake of Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood was filmed in Solva. Rhys Efans took the part of Captain Cat, Charlotte Church was Polly Garter and Neil Kinnock and a host of rugby stars were also in the cast. There are food and music festivals in St David's and Fishguard as well as the Pembrokeshire Fish week which boasts one of the county's principal products - FISH.. Great fish menus are to be found all over the county. The Shed at Port Gain, The Grove at Narbeth, Warpool Court in St David's and the Swan at Little Haven to mention a few.Stay at the Farmhouse, The Stable, The Tackroom or the Granary at Llanddinog, or one of your other properties in Solva - and relax and enjoy your stay in Pembrokeshire knowing that the accommodation will meet your needs.

Solva

Solva and it's surrounding areas are set in the heart of the glorious St David's peninsular, and the Pembrokeshire National Park. The challenge of the 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a must for the more active, or even those who want a gentle stroll on the less challenging parts. Blue Flag beaches are everywhere and within easy driving distances, Newgale, Whitesands, Broad Haven, Sandy Haven, Freshwater East to name a few. Surfing in Pembrokeshire is said to be some of the best sets in the world and many of the activity centres offer lessons and well as surf board hire. The wildlife - as well as the beach life - is stunning. The nature reserve islands of Ramsey , Skomer (famous for its summer visitors of the Manx Shearwater and Puffins) and Grassholm are all available to visitors (no landing on Grassholm which is one of the world's best Gannet colonies). Boat trips around all are regular during the season.Solva is often described as Wales's prettiest coastal village and has a number of eateries plus shops and galleries, The Cafe on the Quay is an ideal place to go after a walk on the headland. St David's is Britain's smallest City and the beautiful Cathedral and ruins of the Bishop's place are a must. St David's meets all your shopping needs for your stay in the peninsular.
