Location description from owner

The Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds area is one of England's favourite destinations and the largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales; famous for hundreds of honey-colour limestone villages in a beautiful rural setting. There is something for everyone from cycling, horse riding or walking through rolling countryside, picturesque villages full of history and winding river valleys.

During the winter months, the Cotswolds offers crisp walks, carpets of snowdrops, roaring log fires, cosy pubs and delicious dining.

It is great for kids both big and small with an array of parks, farms and wildlife parks housing many animals which are rare and endangered.

Snowshill

Willow Vale Cottage is right of heart of Snowshill village overlooking the 19th century church and village green. As its name implies, if there is any snow about then you will find it here first. Snowshill sits high above the villages of Broadway, Buckland, and Laverton with great views of the countryside; this is the English countryside at its best.

Snowshill is best known for its lavender and Manor. The Cotswold Lavender Farm just outside the village is stunning when in bloom and Snowshill Manor House and Gardens, a National Trust property, is well worth a visit and just a short walk from Willow Vale Cottage. The Snowshill Arms, a local friendly pub just the other side of the village green provides a brilliant ending to a fantastic day sightseeing in this beautiful part of the world. On a nice day I recommend sitting out in its large garden with children's play area. Also more recently Snowhill is famous for the winter scenes in Bridget Jones's Diary.

From Snowshill there is a beautiful circular walk setting off right from your front door to the picturesque village of Stanton, Broadway and Broadway Tower, and the Cotswold Way passes through. The Cotswold Way is a well known long-distance footpath, approximately 103 miles (166 km) long, running the length of this Area of Natural Beauty.

The beautiful and historic village of Broadway, just 3 miles down the road, is famous for its wide High Street lined with horse chestnut trees and picturesque honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages which have lured visitors for centuries. Here you will find a selection of award winning restaurants, boutique shops and a fabulous public Activity Park with lots of great childrens play equipment in a stunning setting with views of the surrounding countryside.

One word Fantastic!! But more than that the cottage was beautifully renovated with two king size bedrooms and bunk beds for the little ones. The open plan lounge/kitchen went down a treat as did the family bathroom. Snowshill is an ideal base to explore the Cotswolds with Broadway just a two minute drive away and all the other pretty villages are closeby as well. Went to do some shopping in Cheltenham and went on a cultural trip to Stratford-upon-Avon and of course some rowing on the river. Will definitely return to the cottage as it was just perfect. Thank you Sarah!

I'm so pleased to had a fab time. We would love to welcome you back. Sarah

“Beautiful cottage, great place for kids and in a stunning setting”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2015

I visited Willow Vale Cottage in the Cotswolds over Easter with my husband and 3 children aged 2,5 and 6. The Cottage was beautiful and in a perfect setting. It also had plenty of outdoor space for the kids to run around too. As National Trust members, on the first day we took a short walk to Snowshill Manor which was great for kids with a little Treasure Trail. Throughout the week we continued to find so much to do with the children including Broadway's brilliant park, 'All Things WIld' in Evesham and a trip to Bourton on the Water for a dip in the river. The children's favourite thing about the cottage was bunk beds and the super selection of books, many of which I have since had to purchase! All in all, a really lovely holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We hope to see you again soon.
