Description from owner

Description

A very pretty and beautifully designed greek island cottage with its own swimming pool, set in an olive grove on a hillside overlooking Skopelos town and the sea beyond. The views are amazing - you can sit on the terrace and watch the boats come and go in the harbour below. At nights the twinkly lights from the town provide an equally gorgeous view.

The cottage has a rustic country feel with wooden ceilings and whitewashed floors. It is very comfortably furnished with local art and ceramics and painted in white with soft blues and greens as accent colours. Comfy beds with Egyptian cotton linens and fluffy towels are provided and both bedrooms and sitting room are fully air conditioned. The dining room has glass walls that open up to face both views and there are several other terraces and areas to relax in the shade and make the most of the wonderful views out to sea.

This lovely cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and the sitting room has two island style sofa's that can be made up as two further single beds if required. There are a collection of board games, an IPOD dock, DVD's, pool toys and cookery books for guests to use and there is a Weber BBQ out on the pool terrace with outdoor seating for relaxed suppers around the pool.

This cottage is perfect for peace and quiet as it is set on it's own in a quiet corner of an olive grove and has a wonderfully rural feel, however it is only a 25 minute walk or 5 minute drive into Skopelos town with its lovely restaurants and cafes. In the other direction the nearest beach is only 3 km away and so both are within easy reach.

Private boat rentals, kyaking trips and cycle hire can all be arranged if required and a list of our favourite things to do and places to eat on the island are in the cottage waiting for you.

Please note that for larger parties Villa Elia can be rented together with Elia cottage which is completely private but in the same olive grove. Together they can sleep 14 people.

“Fabulous!”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2018

Beautifully sited amid olive groves above Skopelos Town, the villa has a terrace overlooking the harbour for morning coffee and evening drinks, with a shady veranda on the other side for long lunches plus an elegant pool for whiling away the day. Its kitchen is well equipped if you want to try cooking local dishes and there's a charming small delicatessen/restaurant just up the road if you don't want to go into town to eat out. It's off the main road leading round the island to all the best beaches, with the nearest 10 minutes away by car. We loved every minute of our stay.

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed it all Jacky. Yes - Rosemary Cafe is a lovely spot. I’m glad you found it! Sally

“Could stay another week.”

The location of the cottage was perfect. The views were wonderful, I loved the view from the swing in the olive grove. The pool was great. The cottage was as described. 30 mins walk into Skopelos, 45 mins back (uphill in heat!). However I would recommend a car as there are so many lovely places to visit on the island. We used Magic Cars in Skopelos. Nowhere is too far away but driving is slow as there are plenty of switchback roads. It was great being the front seat passenger! great scenery. The welcome folder in the house was very useful. Good info on beaches, supermarkets, kayaking (excellent), restaurants etc. The cottage was perfect for our family, two teens and an 8 year old. However this property would be a nightmare with pre-school kids. There is a v low balcony with a drop onto scrubland. Its great for adults as the view is unobscured when sitting at the table, but when my kids were young they would have climbed on/over. Also the pool is not fenced off. The olive grove is not fenced off and would be easy to loose a curious toddler in. I however loved it just the way it is, crickets, butterflies, lizards, bats feeding over the pool in the evening, goats tinkling down the hillside, gorgeous smells everywhere. Great hammock, fabulous full-face snorkels. We took the ferry from Skiathos (great) and got the Flying Cat back (quick but not so great as no outside seating). All in all a fantastic base for a holiday on Skopelos.

“Peace and privacy at Elia cottage above Skopelos town”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2015

We stayed here for two weeks in September 2015. The cottage is easily found about a mile out of Skopelos town and is secluded, private and comfortable. The cottage is all on one level and is spacious, simply furnished but elegant, and to a high standard. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms and are set apart providing privacy (we had friends with us for the first week). There is plenty of sitting room and a small but fully equipped kitchen (cleaning materials are provided). The showers are excellent with plenty of hot water on tap. The beauty of the cottage is it's setting. The terrace at the back of the property looks over Skopelos bay and is great for sitting out in the evening looking down on the lights. The large pool area to the front of the cottage is very private being surrounded by the green trees of the island and a large olive grove. (The grounds contain a larger villa but you are never aware that there is another property nearby and it is separated by dedicated driveways and clever landscaping). Again there are good views down to Skopelos from here, and the pool itself is well maintained and a delight to swim in on a hot day. Pool toys can be found in a cupboard in the cottage! The walk down to Skopelos is via the roads (take a torch at night) and takes about half an hour down and longer coming back up. Going the other way you can get to Stafilos beach along a lovely, quiet old road straight from the end of the drive (walking 45 mins or 15 mins on a bicycle). Hiring a car is useful if you want convenient and easy access to the rest of the island. Outside Skopelos town there is very little traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Elia Cottage finding it very peaceful and relaxing. The owners are very helpful in advising on how to get the best out of your holiday there. Highly recommended if you want a private, special place to stay with easy access to all the facilities of Skopelos town and beyond to the rest of the island.

Owner's reply: So glad you had a wonderful time. You were lovely guests. Thank you. Sally and Bill
