Description

Skipton is known as the 'Gateway to the Dales' and this town-house provides a homely and comfortable base from which to explore the local area. A traditional, stone-built Dales house, it is situated near the top of a hill, just 5 minutes walk from the town centre, and enjoys views over the town and to the moor and hills beyond.

Centrally-heated accommodation is on 3 floors. The ground floor comprises a good-sized and well-equipped kitchen/dining room with stone-flagged floor, a range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Next to this is a sitting room with 'living flame' gas fire and large bay window overlooking the garden. The patio is equipped with outdoor furniture and BBQ for al fresco dining. Upstairs is a double bedroom with built-in wardrobes, a twin bedroom with views over slate roofs and church to the hills and moor and a large bathroom with slipper bath and walk-in shower cubicle. Cosy goose-down duvets and towels are provided and beds are made up on arrival. There is a locked shed for storage of bicycles.

Skipton is a vibrant market town with mediaeval castle, river and canals. Voted 'Best High Street in Britain' by the Sunday Times, it boasts a range of independent and well-known high street name shops. There are bus and rail stations and the nearby cities of Leeds, Manchester and Bradford are within easy reach, as is the spa town of Harrogate.

While 8 guests can be accommodated, if all are adults, it will be cosy!

“Pleasant market town”

This is a substantial stone-built terraced house (3 floors) just on the edge of the centre of Skipton. Street parking. Large kitchen that can seat four adults eating comfortably. Living room is a tad small but nice view out to small rear garden with outside patio seating. Neighbours nice and chatty. Wifi connection is very good. Stairs are not too steep to first floor where there is a large twin to rear and small double to front. Good sized bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath tub on this floor. Down-stairs has been converted into an en-suite double with small living room leading to rear garden. Steps to downstairs a little steep. Owner very helpful and sorted out one issue arising very speedily. Good valve.

This was our second visit and we had a great time. The house is lovely and very convenient with only a short walk into town. Parking at times could be an issue but actually we had no problems this time around. We had an extremely comfortable stay and will be back.
