Skipton

The area offers everything you could want from a holiday from people of all ages. The only thing we don't offer on our doorstep is a hectic nightlife but Bradford and Leeds are only half an hour on the train so the City is close enough for those who want it! However, please note that our Cottage is not a party house. We live next door so we are your neighbours as well as 8 other surrounding properties. We therefore insist that you are respectful of our neighbours and as such keep noise levels to a minimum from 10pm-7:30am. The Cottage is detached so you do not have to be particularly careful when inside. I am referring more to when you enter the Cottage and whilst you use the patio. Thank you for your co-operation regarding this.

“Mini moon retreat”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2015

We stayed here for our wedding day and for a few days after and it couldn't have been better! The house was beautifully fernished with amazing beds, super comfy sofas and even the carpet was nice. Kitchen was fantastic and bathrooms where great. Amazing power shower. We were made to feel very welcome by Gemma and was so friendly. The location had amazing views and set in stunning countryside. Over all a amazing cottage and we will definitely return.

“Happily stay there again.”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2015

We stayed for 3 nights so that we could attend a family wedding locally. The cottage is clean, modern and well equipped. We were made to feel very welcome by Gemma who stays next door. The views across the Aire valley are beautiful and although there are not many restaurants or takeaways in the village it is very convenient for local towns. A car is essential. My wife says I should give it 5 stars, the only reason for not doing so is that I didn't find the seating very comfortable in the living room. (must be my age!). We would happily stay again.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. I am sorry to hear that you did not find the sofas in the lounge comfortable. I do agree that leather sofas do not always provide the same level of comfort as fabric ones. However, I love the fact I can thoroughly clean them upon every departure and it would be impossible to provide the same level of cleanliness with fabric sofas. Also, I must stress to potential guests I am not excusing uncomfy sofas!! I don't find them at all uncomfy but appreciate that everyone is different! Another thing to point out is that we've had several guests stay without a car as they have used the regular train service as their mode of transport. Again, this wouldn't work for everyone though many of our guests come in their car and still use the train service. Thanks again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

“Comfortable Stay in great location”

Reviewed 9 May 2015

The cottage is on the edge on Cononley, up a steep hill from the main road. Access to the station is easy (<10 minutes walk) and plenty of trains to Leeds or Skipton (and further). Great location for travelling around. Cottage was comfortable, all amenities are new and work well. Good showers, bath, dishwasher and cooker. Beds were comfy. Wifi worked well, and was fast enough to watch video without buffering. Weather prevented use of the patio. Great views. Pub (New Inn) in village is great, and very busy. Overall, a great stay in a good location.

“FAB-U-LOUS!!!”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2015

I chose this holiday cottage after reading the glowing reviews & I`m very glad that I did. From the moment of booking, the owner Gemma, kept in touch, sending valuable information on directions and things to see & do. On arrival we were very pleased with the presentation of the cottage. The welcoming information & the milk and biscuits, which went down a treat with our little Granddaughter. The accommodation is clean, modern and above all, very comfortable. The kitchen area has everything you could need for a short break or longer holiday. We all enjoyed a few good nights sleep, the beds are really comfortable. The village is lovely, the area is quiet, the fabulous playground was visited every day! There are plenty of places to visit in close proximity, we caught the train from the village into Skipton, which gave us a car free day. Hesketh farm (near Bolton Abbey) is a must for little children. Overall, we all had a lovely holiday and will most definitely return.

“Just what we wanted”

The cottage was immaculate and had everything that we needed. The weather was beautiful so we were able to make use of the terrace. The location was perfect for us and the views were stunning.

“Fantastic Host, Fantastic Home, Fantastic Weekend”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2015

Gemma was a fantastic host and incredibly understanding of the demands of a large group. The house is incredible in a lovely location, well furnished and brilliantly cosy. We really enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend the place highly enough. You are right in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside with incredible views from every window.

“Comfortable accommodation in a good location for discovering the southern Yorkshire Dales and surroundings”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2015

Gemma was a friendly, helpful host, dealing promptly with any queries both before and during our stay. The property which is next to the owner's is modern and well equipped, and views of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed from upstairs and outside, both to the front and rear of the property. Its location provides easy access to major roads leading west, south and east, as well as to roads leading into the beautiful Yorkshire Dales to the north. There were six of us staying, so two of us had to sleep downstairs where there is a sofa-bed in the living area. This did not pose a problem, although the dining table needs to be moved to the side of the room when the sofa-bed is opened up. Bedding and two towels per person are provided by Gemma. It was useful having some basic supplies provided in the cupboards for the start of our stay and Gemma left us a small chocolate selection pack as we stayed over the Christmas/New Year holiday period! The free wifi was useful and worked well. We enjoyed a meal in the local village pub - the food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the locals were very welcoming. Supermarkets are located in nearby Skipton, as well as Crosshills, and there is a small village shop and post office in Cononley itself. Over all, I would recommend this holiday cottage if you are interested in exploring the many attractions this area has to offer, as it is served by a good road network and by a frequent rail service. If you are intending to spend most of your time in the Yorkshire Dales, then you may do better to consider renting a property in the Dales themselves.

“Very happy with friendly owner, standards displayed, and amenities offered”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already enquired about staying again next year. We were very pleasantly surprised with the great standards displayed in the design of this modern accommodation and with the facilities provided. There is onsite parking and a small patio area with table & chairs. Bedding & towels are included. There are 2 bathrooms 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs, with TV's in both bedrooms. Central heating is also included in the price. Gemma the owner is very pleasant and approachable and strives to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2014

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at High view, a modern, well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage. We found the second shower room downstairs particularly useful, the cottage also has a good wifi connection and the TVs in both bedrooms is a nice bonus. Gemma, the owner is very pleasant and helpful and made the whole process very easy. I would highly recommend High View to anyone visiting the area and hope to return again soon.

“Warm welcome, wonderful cottage, wicked views!”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2014

We returned to High View for a second visit and were delighted to find it just as pleasurable as the first time. The accomodation is great with everything you could need and very comfortable beds. Gemma was very welcoming and even invited us to the local Halloween party to the delight of our children. This time we visited Skipton and Leeds using the very convenient local train service which is only a short walk from the cottage, and also made use of the excellent pub and play park in the village. Despite this being a return visit we still feel we would like to visit again and enjoy some of the walks and footpaths nearby. Definately worth a visit, many thanks again Gemma!
