Description from owner

Our Gite La Rosa, is part of the outbuildings close to our Chateau de Bézyl, it is situated quite privately facing east and south. You wil find yourselves in the middle of the countryside, its fields, heaths and woodlands are around you and managed as a nature-reserve, its native flora and fauna can be discovered and enjoyed by walking its many paths. We have a small lake, the roe-deer, wild boar, bats, many butterflies and insects. A good area for birdwatching and mushroom picking. There is a swimming pool, which is heated from April to September. A place to spend time relaxing, hiding from the stresses of everyday life. and not having to go out except to the shops once and a while.

Its secluded and tranquil, yet only 5 minutes from the nearest amenities and under an hour away from the Brittany beaches.

The Brittany region

The estate is situated in the south-east of Brittany, in Ille et Villaine, close to the Morbihan and Loire Atlantique. Being inland, we do benefit of the sun, the spring usually warm, the summers can be hot and dry. The winters are usually mild, with occasional snow.

Sea side:

The nearest beaches are at Pénestin ( 45 min)and near Billiers 63 km where its long sandy beach is excellent for (kite)surfen. The popular large sea-side town La Baule 80 km has a lovely sandy beach, and many designer shops and restaurants.

The rocky coastline also has many small secluded beaches and alcoves, the water is clear, and its wildlife to be enjoyed in the many rockpools.

Things to see:

The saltmarshes with its salt museum its ancient walled town Guérande . The many prehistoric sites and quaint villages, such as La Gacilly, with its artisan shops and annual photographic exhibition.

The village La Roche Bernard, with its spectacular views from its ramparts over the river Vilaine, with its old harbour and new harbour, its many sailing boats, restaurants and artisan shops.

Rochefort on Terre, a medieval little town, very well preserved, with many shops and galleries, selling art and local products.

The town of Vannes with its timber framed houses close to the golf of Morbihan with its many islands, where it is good sailing or going on a mini cruise or boat trip.

Saint Just, just (5 min) has the nearest prehistoric site Les Landes des Cojoux with a museum to discover neolithic life . Various walks and trials start from here. Including donkey tracking. Along the steep cliffs surrounding lake Du Val, rock climbing can be practished.

In Loheac ( 20 min) is the automobile museum, and its interesting oldworldy village has some good restaurants and there is a race track for rallycross, karting, quad and 4x4 and courses for racingdrivers;

The town Redon with its market (15 min) little high street, harbour, maritime buildings, Irish pub, its cinema, musique festival in July and in October: Fete de la Marron which covers everything surrounding the sweet chesnut, roasting, delicious sweet chesnut breads and cakes, jams and cremes, but also covers storytellling, traditional music and theater.

“Gorgeous, comfortable gite on a stunning estate.”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2012

Myself and my two friends had a wonderful time during our week at Gite La Rosa. The gite itself is suprisingly spacious and well maintained. We had everything we could want! Ally is on site and available at all times. We were treated with friendliness and openness at all times - and the fun of having four dogs and a lovely cat to socialise with was brilliant. The best part of Gite La Rosa is the wonderful location. We gladly stayed on site for several days. We walked and had picnics in the grounds, swam every day and even spent some time on the swings outside the gite. The area is lovely and it was easy to access many interesting towns and tourist destinations by car. The shops in Pipriac are around ten minutes away by car and have everything you could need. The only small issue we had was with insects in the house. This is obviously a result of the verdant countryside we were situated in and was not a major problem but it did require some 'RAID' spray! (Purchased locally with ease) We also noticed that the pool was very deep (over 1m at the shallow end) and this may be an issue for anyone who is not a confident swimmer. I would certainly recommend Gite La Rosa for groups of adults or for those with children.
