“Lovely Stay in a Mountain Paradise”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2016

We stayed for four autumn days and didn't want to leave! The chalet sits on a hill overlooking the village of Sixt Fer a Cheval and commands an excellent view of the surrounding mountains and the valley below. It's an easy drive to numerous day hikes in the Cirque du Fer a Cheval, a park with gorgeous waterfalls and stunning views. It's also just down the road from the more famous Rouget waterfall. After a day hiking, you will want to settle into this cozy chalet with a book, a glass of wine and a fire.

Owner's reply: Thanks Jennifer, very glad you had a great stay with us! Many thanks for leaving the chalet in such good order! Best wishes, Sean

“Amazing holiday in a very comfortable chalet with great hospitality”

Reviewed 12 May 2013

We had an amazing holiday in the chalet. It's a very beautiful house in a nice village. We loved the bedrooms and the light brown couch was very comfortable ! The view was amazing. The hospitality was great and our children hoped to come back next year! We spent a wonderful time in your very nice chalet and in the beautiful mountains! It was a very nice place for walking and so much more.

“Excellent location for a summer Alpine adventure”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2013

The day I got here I was amazed at how nice the chalet is. It is really pretty and has amazing views. I loved rafting and the Via Ferrata and of course the hikes. Thankyou for being so helpful. The fireworks at the end of the week were the perfect end to an amazing week.

“The best chalet I have ever stayed in”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2013

We stayed here at the end of 3 weeks travelling around the South of France and wanted somewhere to relax for a few days before heading home. As someone who has stayed in numerous chalet's over the years (admittedly in winter) I can say in all honesty that L'Aplee is far and away the best I have ever stayed at. The views, the location and most importantly the chalet it's self all added up to a brilliant end to our trip. The location is also brilliant being 10 minute stroll from a village with a couple of restaurants, a bar of 2 and a brilliant boulangerie. There were a 3 things in particular that made this stay a little more than just plain "good". Firstly the overall standard of the chalet, how it was decorated and how well appointed it was were just a cut above other similar places. Second, the garden was such a nice place to sit and watch the stars in the evening or simply lie and catch the sun during the day. Finally, Sean (the owner) was wonderfully helpful throughout the entire process from booking to arrival and we could not have asked for anything more. Overall it really is a stunning place, we were blown away by how good it is, I would go back there tomorrow given half a chance!

“Great Chalet for All of Us”

What a fantastic week of walking and wildlife spotting! Hot and sunny at 7000 feet we saw Golden Eagles, Lammergeier, Marmot, Chamois, and even, possibly, an Italian Wolf!!

“Wonderful chalet, superb location”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2013

A wonderful chalet in an amazing area. Facilities, views, garden and village all wonderful. Sean a source of great advice. First class meal at Auberge in the village - recommended. We also did the La Balme canyoning, lots of abseiling (up to 25m) and slides, great fun, again recommended (we did it with NunaYak). Paragliding also great even though I don't like heights! In addition, many wonderful hikes - Sean a source of great information. All in all a terrific time in a superb place.

“Exceptionally comfortable, stylish house in a quiet location on the periphery of a beauiful village”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2013

What a fantastic holiday! The chalet is exceptionally well equipped and located. In addition, Sean the co-owner is a wonderful resource. We have enjoyed walking the Cirque du Fer a Cheval, to the Refuge du Grenairon (with wonderful views of Mont Blanc) and to the Refuge de Sales. We took a boat on Lac Leman from Yvoire, a train to the ice cave at Chamonix and white water rafting on the river with NunaYak. Nuna Yak are very much recommended and our guide, Lambert, was superb company. Meals at the Auberge and the Pizzeria have been excellent value and quality. Our boys (7 & 9) have thoroughly enjoyed all the mountain biking which has become expensive for us as we realise they need better bikes! Not to worry we have booked again for 2013 so will get our monies worth - fingers crossed the weather is as perfect! Thank you very much Sean.
