Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Languedoc is one of the sunniest regions in France, and enjoys many long hot summer days.
We bought this house because of its perfect location. There is so much to do in the local area, its close to the beaches at Narbonne Plage and Sigean (about 1 hr) and the Cosmopolitan Cities of Toulouse and Montpellier (1.5hrs)

The Region is in the heart of Cathare country, steeped in history. The Villages of Minnerve and Caunes are perfect examples only 30 mins away, and the Cite at Carcassonne is 45 mins.

The house is on the plains and relatively flat, so perfect for cycling and walking, the lake at Jouarres is ideal for swimming and Watersports it is just a few km, as is the Canal Du Midi, at Homps. The town of Olonzac with its bustling market on a Tuesday morning is the biggest and best in the area, and is only 5 mins away.

The region is full of Artisans with regular exhibitions for Art, Pottery, Ceramics, sculptures and glassware, you can even book courses to take part.

Its so varied, every time we come we visit new places and some old favourites.

Siran

Take a picnic to the Lac de Jouarres just 3 miles and enjoy swimming and watersport, or a leisurely walk around the lake.

Travel around the Minervois wine area and do tours or tasting sessions, the calendar during the summer is jammed packed with events, have a look at the tourism website for details.

The Canal Du Midi is perfect for cycling, walking and for taking boat trips and is dotted with Cafes and restaurants for a well earn rest and relax.

At the Cite in Carcassonne there are regular shows performed, great shops in the lanes as well as the best ice creams.

Narbonne is a famous Roman Town with the bustling Les Halles for all types of fresh goodies.

The Feria at Azille in April gives a chance to experience dancing and the magnificent bulls of the Camargue, and The Cherry Festival is a great celebration in May and a chance to meet the locals, there are events all through the summer until the Fetes du Pomme at Aigues Vives in October and the wonderful Fete de Chateigne in St Pons in late October / early November

The Vendage (grape harvest) is a pleasure to see and celebrate, as well as the beautiful autumn colours of the vines

You could venture down the coast to Argeles Sur Mer and Colioure famous for its Artistic connections.

We travel to Barcelona (3 hrs) with an overnight stay to see this majestic city.

i have plenty of information about the local area and events that i will email to prospective customers.
