Description from owner
Podere Incrociati rises in the heart of Montagnola Senese, just 15 km/9 miles far from Siena and 75 km/47,5 miles far from Florence, among the greenery of age-old oaks, holm-oaks and chestnut-trees. Thanks to its high position (500 mt./1640 ft. above sea level) you will enjoy a well-aired summer suitable for walks in the nearby woods, crossed by several paths, catching sight of charming landscapes, lots of medieval villages and Romanesque parish churches. There are thousands of paths through Montagnola Senese, which is a hillock in the heart of the Sienese area. During the Middle Ages, these paths were connected to the ancient "Via Francigena", the important road link between Rome and the rest of Europe, and this is the reason why in this area there are so many old villages and churches.Podere Incrociati is surrounded by a natural environment, with tracks that go through the woods and that are ideal for mountain-bike, horse-back riding and trekking excursions. The building is

The building is composed of a mansion built in 1840 during the Gran Duke Leopoldo II of Tuscany's reign, that has been recently restored, without altering its original characteristics. The outside fronts have maintained their originality, while inside the building, most part of the ancient hand-crafted brick floors has been restored, as well as the ceilings with their old wooden beams that had been blackened by the smoke of the mantelpieces, which were once the only source of heating; the old irregular walls and the arched ceilings have been preserved, too.The old forniture makes the place comfortable and charming, respecting the ancient rural Sienese traditions. The place is particularly sunny thanks to a wide natural meadow that lays south of the building, alternating with the woods, and that is at the guests' disposal. Our staff will welcome the guests and will be present for any need. There are some services available on request, they have to be booked in advance: typical Tuscan dinners, cooking classes, tours around the Chianti-area, the Val d'Orcia-area, San Gimignano, Volterra, horse riding, bike rental and bike tours, transfers to and from the airport, visit to the cellars, sommelier courses.

Location description from owner
The Tuscany region
Tuscany, the cradle of Renaissance, and native land of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Giotto, Filippo Brunelleschi, Dante Alighieri, Cimabue, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Niccolò Machiavelli, Luca della Robbia, Donatello, Amerigo Vespucci, Benvenuto Cellini, Lorenzo the Magnificent, Giovanni da Verrazzano etc.; is a region rich of art, culture and natural beauties.
Six Tuscany localities have been inscribed in the UNESCO list of world-heritage sites: the Historical center of Florence (inscribed in 1982), the Historical center of Siena (1995), the Square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1,987), the Historical center of San Gimignano (1990), the Historical center of Pienza (1996) and the Val d' Orcia (2004). The wonders of Tuscany are not only limited to the places inserted in the Unesco's list, but they are represented also from other wonderful historical cities like Arezzo, Lucca, Pistoia, Massa Marittima, Cortona, Certaldo, Volterra, Montepulciano or the small fortified medieval villages like Pitigliano, Sorano, Monteriggioni, Serravalle Pistoiese, Vicopisano or natural landscapes as for example like that can be seen in the Hills of Chianti, the Crete Senesi, the Apuan Alps and the beautiful coast of the Tyrrhenian sea with the Islands of Tuscan archipelago or the Natural Park of Maremma, in the region are also important Etruscan and Roman archeological remains. Tuscany is also famous for its spa tourism and Spa, who has never heard of Montecatini or Terme di Saturnia or Terme di Rapolano.
Siena is one of the best preserved historical cities of Tuscany. Ancient medieval town built on three hills, is still surrounded by walls. The whole city of Siena, built around the Piazza del Campo, was conceived as a work of art that blends into the landscape of the Crete Senesi.
The historic center of Siena has been inserted since 1995 between the World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
UNESCO has included Siena in the list of world heritage sites with the following words: Siena is the embodiment of a medieval town. Its inhabitants pursued their rivalry with Florence, also in the area of urban planning. Through the centuries they preserved their city's Gothic appearance, acquired over the centuries XII-XV. During this period the work of Duccio, the Lorenzetti brothers and Simone Martini influenced the course of Italian and European art. The entire city of Siena, built around the Piazza del Campo was invented as a work of art that integrates with the surrounding landscape.
