Location description from owner

The England region

The surrounding area of East Devon boasts sweeping countryside, narrow hedged roads, lavished green fields and superb coastal walks and resorts.

Local attractions include Crealy Great Adventure Park, Race World, The Donkey Sanctuary, Oak Mead Golf Course, Beer Quarry Caves, Peak Hill Llamas, Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Escot nature park, Seaton Tramway and many more.

The picture-postcard village of Beer nestles in Lyme Bay, on the 95-mile long Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site and forms part of the South West Coastal Path. The shingle beach still boasts a small fleet of working fishing boats and the surrounding picturesque white chalk cliffs provide a natural suntrap sheltering the cove from prevailing westerly winds.

Lyme Regis boasts breathtaking scenery and a special mystique, making it a sparkling resort for all seasons. Its historic Cobb and harbour are iconic features, set against moody blue cliffs yielding fossilised evidence of life on earth millions of years ago. Lyme Regis has it all - the perfect family resort, the home of palaeontology, a world-class creative and cultural community, a bustling harbour, gastronomic delights, an array of shops, a calendar full of events, and plenty for the active.

Exmouth is a lively town offering a diverse selection of shops, places to eat and things to do, including top quality water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, fantastic routes for cycling and walking, internationally-acclaimed nature reserves and unique cultural events as well as two miles of stunning beach that are a joy whatever the weather.

Full of character and ancient history, Exeter offers all the amenities and comforts that would be expected of a modern day city. Exeter is the capital city of Devon, providing the county with a central base for education, medicine, religion, commerce and culture. The city is also home to the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, which dates back to Norman times.

Sidmouth

Stanley Cottage is located in the peaceful village of Tipton St John, just north of the coastal resort of Sidmouth. Tipton sits by the River Otter, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You may like to walk or cycle through quiet country lanes, walk alongside the river or through forest and dis-used railway tracks, spot plenty of birds including Buzzard, Egret and Kingfisher, see rabbits and foxes as well as a variety of farm animals.

Why not sit an enjoy some peace and quiet at the nearby recreation ground beside the river and watch the village cricket team in action. Visit the children's playground, Church or the Golden Lion Pub, renowned for its superb food and lovely beer garden where there is often a BBQ in the summer months. The village shop is well stocked for day to day essentials and a Waitrose supermarket is less than 3 miles away.

Whatever you choose to do, you will find a warm welcome in Tipton St John.

The unspoilt seaside town of Sidmouth, just 3 miles away, nestles beneath the majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. It has a rich Regency history, beautiful gardens, clean beaches and friendly shops. Sidmouth FolkWeek is a unique week-long seaside celebration of music, dance and song which takes place in the first week of August every year.

“Beautifully presented property in a lovely village”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2016

The property is beautifully presented with everything you need for a comfortable self catering holiday. It is located in a quiet village with easy access to all the major attraction in East Devon. If you like dining out the village pub serves a range for reasonable price food. We highly recommend this property and location.

“Absolutely fabulous property”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stanley cottage. It was a lovely house, with lots of space and everything you could need. The kitchen looked brand new, was fully fitted and had any appliance or equipment you could possibly want. Everything was spotless, and the beds were comfortable. The shower was a bit noisy but there was good water pressure. The outside decked area was lovely, very private and peaceful. Good dog walking area at the park which was just down the road. I would really recommend Stanley cottage.

“Great Modern Cottage in Wonderful Location”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2016

We loved our stay in this wonderful cottage. It is thoroughly updated providing all the modern comforts and was a wonderful place to come "home" to after a day at the beach or to stay in by the fireplace playing games during a rainy day. The location could not have been more ideal. We had a public footpath/walk right out the front door for exploring, quick and easy trips to Sidmouth, Charmouth, & Lyme Regis with other fun stops along the way. A playground for our daughter and open field for our dog down the road plus a pub with garden across the street. A group of five of us plus our dog stayed here and we felt we had plenty of room to eat and be together or to go off and have separate space. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone and look forward to staying here again. Only advice is to bring your own towels if you have dogs. We brought some, but underestimated how wet and muddy she would get running through the field and on walks.

“Comfortable house in a great location”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2016

We loved our stay. The house had everything - comfortable, clean, new kitchen with lots of space, great location in a charming village close to lots of activities, and great view across the garden and pasture.
