Available to rent all year round, Golden Cottage is an immaculately presented, three storey detached holiday cottage perfectly situated in a central but peaceful town centre location in Sidmouth, Devon. In under two minutes you can walk from your front door to the beach and all the shops, cafes and restaurants of this beautiful seaside town. Golden Cottage is the ideal Sidmouth holiday home!
Golden Cottage can sleep five people in three bedrooms and all linens and towels are included in the rental fee. There is free parking for one car in the cottage's private driveway and free super-fast WiFi is also provided.
The property offers a spacious modern kitchen with dining space for up to six people. We provide everything you need for a relaxing self-catering holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped and comes with electric hob, cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. A utility room leads off the kitchen containing a washing machine and space for hanging out clothes/beach towels etc. An ironing board and iron are also provided.
Leading off the kitchen / diner is a secluded and sunny south-facing walled courtyard garden with outside table and chairs. There are also two sun loungers.
The recently revamped cosy living room contains two large comfortable sofas and an armchair with plenty of space for relaxing in front of the traditionally styled gas fire and 43-inch smart TV. We also provide a DVD / Blu-ray player with a selection of films and a Bluetooth speaker for playing your own music.
The cottage has been recently redecorated and we often receive comments about the high standard of furnishings including the quality and comfort of our memory foam mattresses - you will be assured of a restful night's sleep! On the first floor is the dual aspect master bedroom with kingsize bed and modern oak furniture. On the second floor are a light and bright twin bedroom and single bedroom, both of which have views towards the sea.
Also on the first floor is an extremely spacious family bathroom with WC, large corner bath and separate shower. There is an additional downstairs cloakroom with WC.
The cottage is thoroughly serviced and made up prior to arrival. All towels and linens are included in the rental price. Any bookings for more than one week will include a fresh set of towels and linens on the usual changeover day, plus maid service if required.
There is parking for one car to the front of the property. Additional parking if required is available in a number of municipal car parks very close to Golden Cottage and weekly / seasonal rates are available. A travel cot and high chair are available on request. We cannot guarantee the suitability of laundry detergents for infants, therefore we kindly ask that you provide your own sheets / blankets for the cot.
The Esplanade and nearest beach are just two minutes walk from your front door. Sidmouth beaches are varied and fascinating. The main beach is shingle, perfect for hiring a deckchair and gazing out to sea. Walking a few minutes west brings you to Jacobs Ladder beach - popular with families where vast swathes of sand await you. As the tide retreats, numerous rock pools appear providing hours of entertainment for both the young and the young at heart!
The historic Regency town of Sidmouth has an impressive array of sights and activities to offer all tastes and and in all seasons. The beach is obviously a big draw but there is so much more. Admire the award winning floral displays in the public gardens. Catch Sidmouth town band live every Sunday evening at Connaught Gardens during the summer months or watch a play at Manor Pavillion theatre. Sidmouth's annual Folk Week and Regatta in August are hugely popular, followed by the carnival in September. If you visit over Christmas time, be sure to catch the annual Boxing Day swim.
Stocking up with groceries is easy - there are supermarkets around the corner plus a large Waitrose towards the outskirts of town. If you would rather eat out, you will find all palates are catered for by the many wonderful restaurants and pubs - all within walking distance of the cottage. For fine dining options, the Victoria, Belmont and Westcliff hotels offer something a bit more special. You can easily lose a day browsing the unique and varied shops and boutiques along the High Street, Church Street and Old Fore Street. If you are feeling a bit more active, Sidmouth Swimming Pool is very close whilst a pleasant walk or cycle ride along the river brings you to the Leisure Centre where holiday memberships are available. Sidmouth Golf Club, with it's wonderful views of Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast is only one mile away and there are many other fine golf clubs within the vicinity.
The cathedral city of Exeter is 16 miles away and there are many interesting and historic coastal towns such as Topsham, Lyme Regis, Beer, Seaton and Budleigh Salterton are within easy driving distance. Many picturesque villages such as Branscombe and Otterton are also nearby. Exeter Airport is 11 miles away, the train station a little further on. The nearest train station is Honiton, 10 miles away. Sidmouth is served by a frequent and reliable bus service to both Exeter and Honiton along with the surrounding villages.
Changeover day is on Friday in July and August. Other days are available out of high season and for short breaks. Please enquire for short break prices. Christmas and New Year - changeover day flexible.
25% of the rental price is due within one week of booking with the remainder due eight weeks before arrival. Booking less than eight weeks before arrival requires 100% of the payment at the time of booking. Please contact us to obtain a booking form and full terms and conditions. A returnable security deposit of £100 is required. Different rates apply for Sidmouth Folk Week.
