Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

Sheringham lies on the North Norfolk coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a landscape of saltmarsh, shingle and glorious beaches. Within a few miles are the lovely Georgian town of Holt, with its galleries and café culture, and the Victorian resort of Cromer. The picturesque villages of Weybourne, Blakeney and Cley, with their flint cottages and windmills, wind along the heritage coast to Wells-next-the-Sea and magnificent Holkham Beach.

In a very compact area there's something for everyone: steam trains, National Trust properties and other stately homes and gardens, wildlife reserves with seal colonies and outstanding birdwatching, safe, sandy beaches and a fabulous array of eating spots, with crab and lobster straight from the sea. Slightly further afield are Norwich (castle, cathedral, excellent shopping!), Sandringham Royal estate and the waterways of the Norfolk Broads. Or you might come simply to unwind under North Norfolk's vast skies, watching the waves, stargazing, or watching the sun set into the sea, an unexpected quirk on the east coast, and a magical end to the day!

Sheringham

For centuries a remote fishing station, Sheringham became an Edwardian seaside retreat with the arrival of the railway. The fishermen's quarter, with its flint and pebble cottages, remains at the heat of the town.

Sheringham today is a small, old-fashioned seaside town, set among cliffs and rolling woodland, good walking country. The high street runs down to the sea and has a lovely selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Attractions include the Blue Flag award winning beach, the Poppy Line steam railway, Little Theatre, museums, a fine coastal golf course, leisure centre and the Norfolk Coast Path, all within easy walking distance of Magnolia Cottage.

There are miles of beach, clifftop and country walks from the front door, including the 18th century landscape of Sheringham Park (National Trust). Excellent transport links include the Coasthopper bus and Bittern Line train to Norwich.
