Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Simon's Cottage is situated in Totley on the edge of the Peak District (2 minute drive away) and surrounding villages and amenities and only a 15 minute drive to Chatsworth House, 10 minute drive to Sheffield Botanical Gardens and Sheffield City Centre. This is the perfect spot for sightseeing, adventure, music festivals, socialising and meeting new people wherever you go. On hot and clear Spring and Summer days the views are breath-taking across the Peak District but if you want to see something spectacular come and visit during the Winter when the snow has fallen - perfect for landscape artists and photographers. Why not visit Chatsworth House and explore centuries of history and have a bite to eat in their restaurant. There is plenty to do for all ages and abilities including walking, cycling, climbing, adventure, courses, horse riding, canoeing, map-reading and navigation courses to festivals, exhibitions, music, paintballing and quad-biking. There are plenty of places of interest to visit - Ashbourne, Ashford-in-the-Water, Bakewell, Belper, Bolsover Castle, Buxton, Castleton, Chatsworth House, Chesterfield, Crich, Cromford, Cromford railway, Edale, Eyam, Glossop, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Hathersage, Holmfirth, Lyme Park, Leek, Macclesfield, Stone Circles, Tideswell, Wirksworth.

Sheffield

Totley village is on the edge of the Peak District (2 minute drive away). There are plenty of local walks and trails in and around the countryside for dog walkers, mountain bikers and hikers. Local amenities are within walking distance along with excellent public transport in and out of the city of Sheffield. If you like theatre then you're in luck - Sheffield boasts many well know venues including the Crucible, The Lyceum, The Montgomery theatre and many others. For die-hard mountain bikers/cyclists just jump on your bike and head for the hills and you'll be spoilt for choice as far as terrain goes but mind the stags and highland cattle as you go! If you enjoy eating out there is plenty of choice with cafes, pubs and restaurants right on the doorstep! If you haven't eaten by the time you arrive at the cottage don't worry, they'll be a welcome basket with a few goodies in for you. I can also happily suggest the Cross Scythes Gastric Pub which serves excellent food and a variety of beers, lagers and wines and very professional friendly staff are there to help with any dietary requests.
