Bents Farm is a traditional farmhouse perfectly situated on the edge of the Peak District.
On the door step are beautiful footpaths, bridleways, and rural lanes ideal for walking and cycling. Across the adjacent cricket green is the renowned gastro-pub 'The Cricket Inn'. The farm is part of the picturesque hamlet of Totley Bents.
Bents Farm is also well situated for visiting family and friends in Sheffield, being just 15 minutes' drive from the city centre, 5 minutes' drive from Dore train station, and a short walk from a major bus route. For shopping, Meadowhall is only half an hour away.
The farmhouse dates from the nineteenth century, and retains many original features: fireplaces, exposed beams, working shutters, and window seats. The owners have recently renovated the property throughout, providing a very well equipped kitchen, spacious dining room with a log burner, and cosy sitting room with an open fire. On the first floor are three good sized bedrooms, one double and two twins. There is a bath and shower.
Externally, there is a delightful front garden, with table and chairs, and space for two cars. (Further cars can be accommodated on the nearby lane.) Bents Farm remains a small working farm, so you should be able to spot sheep, cows, and a tractor during your stay!
Broadband Wi-Fi and satellite TV are included, as well as all linen and towels. We will provide you with a welcome basket, containing some essentials plus a few treats ...
Bents Farm Cottages would be perfect for families, or small groups who want to go hiking, (road) cycling or mountain biking. The beautiful surrounding scenery, excellent range of local pubs, and proximity to both the Peak District and Sheffield make Bents Farm a great choice.

The Yorkshire region
Bents Farm is located on the edge of the Peak District: 100m away lie the footpaths and bridleways of Blacka Moor, and beyond the wide open spaces of Burbage Moor, Totley Moor, and Big Moor.
Bents Farm is at the heart of the idyllic rural hamlet of Totley Bents, on the fringe of Totley, itself an outlying suburb of Sheffield. The farm is surrounded by fields, some used for cattle and sheep grazing: Bents Farm remains a small working farm.
From the front garden, you look over the idyllic rural cricket field towards the renowned Cricket Inn; this view provides the second picture on the right. The Cricket Inn, Penny Lane, is a perfect place to enjoy a summer lunch outside or a winter dinner in front of a roaring fire. It thoroughly deserves its reputation as the finest gastro-pub in Sheffield and surrounds.
There are two other excellent country pubs within 10 minutes' walk, both of which also provide very good food: The Crown Inn, Hillfoot Road (dating from 1727) and The Cross Scythes, Baslow Road (dating from the mid eighteenth century).
The nearby village of Dore - just five minutes drive, or a pleasant twenty minute walk over the fields - is the perfect place to stock up at the artisan bakery or independent green grocers. Dore also boasts a Post Office, Pharmacy, Co-Op supermarket, and excellent fish and chip shop.
Bents Farm provides easy access to some of the most wonderful Peak District locations, including Chatsworth House (20 minutes' drive), Monsal Trail (25 minutes), and Edale and the start of the Pennine Way (30 minutes).
The most remarkable thing about Bents Farm is that while you feel surrounded by the Peak District, you are still within easy proximity to central Sheffield. To drive takes only 10-20 minutes (depending on time of day!), and travel by bike, bus or train to central Sheffield is also convenient. This fact is very appealing to those who are visiting family or friends in Sheffield, or have work commitments in the area.

"Relaxing rural / city break"
Very pleasant accommodation, clean tidy, good facilities. Incredibly comfortable beds. Friendly and very helpful owners. Plenty of local walking and close to the Peaks, and yet 15 minutes from Sheffield city centre.
Thanks Sue! We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Bents Farm.
