Location description from manager

The England region

The Isle of Wight is situated approximately 3 miles off the English Southern Coastline. It is known for its breathtaking scenery with much of the Island being designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Island first became popular as a holiday destination during Victorian times and its unique charm still entices over 2.5 million visitors each year. It is quite easy to appreciate why the Island attracts so many, with its scenic coastline, award winning golden beaches, charming little villages and temperate climate – in fact the Island can boast more hours of sunshine than most other destinations in Britain. For the more energetic, the Island offers over 500 miles of maintained footpaths which makes it ideal for walkers and cyclists alike. The Islands towns offer a comprehensive range of shops and amenities including many 'High Street' names together with popular cafes, bars and restaurants - some even being awarded the 'Michelin Star'. All in all the Island is a wonderful holiday destination, catering for all ages and with activities for all interests.

Shanklin

Shanklin is located on the Island's eastern coastline, sharing the same bay as Sandown. It started off as a sleepy little village consisting of about a dozen fishermen's cottages, many of which still survive & can be found in the 'old village'. The town is now a popular holiday destination, with many people returning year after year. The main attractions are of course the lovey sandy beaches, the 'old village' with its quirky little shops & tea gardens & not forgetting Shanklin Chine - an historic gorge with dramatic waterfalls & a nature trail. There are also many other attractions, including a theatre & heritage centre. The town itself offers many different kinds of shops, from little quirky curiosity shops to modern supermarkets. There are also no shortage pf places to eat & drink, including popular restaurants along the esplanade with scenic views across the bay, stretching out towards the English Channel. Shanklin offers something for everyone, not to mention being a great base from which to explore the rest of the lovely Island...

“Very comfortable well equipped apartment”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

Having stayed in many apartments on the Isle of Wight my wife and i agreed that this was one of the best. So much so that my wife wanted to become a squatter and stay in it for good. The position is very central for all amenities and the apartment is immaculate and clean and furnished with real quality. We loved every minute of our stay.
