Description

The Apartment sleeps a maximum of 4 people; children under 5 years of age cannot be accommodated as regulated by our insurance cover. Also, we cannot accept pets of any kind.

The kitchen comprises a full size electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery which are all contained with-in the stylishly-built units, along with an iron and counter-top ironing board. There is also an airer/dryer for hand washed/rinsed through items.

Separated from the kitchen by a prep counter we have a plush 2 and 3 seater sofa in the living area along with a separate dining table and chairs for your meals.

We do have a rather large TV with SKY Freeview and a DVD player, a cosy fireplace with an electric working wood burning effect stove, but that’s just for show as I am sure you won’t need it during the hot summer months! For the cooler part of the year, (early Spring or late Autumn nights) there are 2 additional Oil filled radiators supplied if needed.

Alternatively when the weather is at its best you might feel the need to use the Air Cooling Fan to cool down the Apartment!!!

The bathroom has a corner bath with an electric shower, sink, heated towel rail and a full size toilet!

You also have a private patio, equipped with your own patio table, chairs and parasol, where you can eat, drink and enjoy the surrounding panoramic view of the Bay. Spend hot sunny days or balmy summer nights sitting on your patio lazily watching the world go by after eating here or dining out at one of many fantastic eateries – some I can recommend really close by, others further inland.

The bedrooms consist of a double room and a twin bedded room; both have a wardrobe, dressing table and bedside cabinet(s) with touch lighting lamps. The beds are made-up for your arrival, but we do not supply towels.

We can also offer WiFi for those who either feel the need that they “just have to check up on” work or for those that can’t go without Facebook™!

There is an allocated parking space for one car at the back of the Apartment.

Location description from owner

The England region

Firstly I must inform you that the map above is over 8 years old as the site next door to The Napier has been rebuilt into private dwellings. For an more up to date vision of how close we are to the beach, I would suggest that you visit Google maps and put in the post code PO37 6BN, again this is not recent but more recent than the map above!! Shanklin Esplanade has been receiving a major re-vamp over the past couple of years ranging from the new Pirate Golf at the start of the Esplanade, to new a new cafe called Sail 'n' Surf which is situated next to the Rowing Club right on the beach (it is in the place where the trampolines are shown on the map). In front of SEAGULL VIEW, there is a cafe and beach goods/gift shop open 7 days a week from early till late called Cole's Bazaar and Snackery, which offers a range of Tea's Coffee's and light snacks to either have on the patio frontage or to take away to the beach or for your journey home. There are plenty of Inn's, Hotels and other cafe's along the Esplanade. So if you come without transport you will not have to venture far for good food, fine beverages and local hospitality.

Throughout the Summer the Isle of Wight plays hosts to many world wide events, Annual Walking Festival (May) the largest held in the UK. Old Gaffers at Totland (May), The Isle of Wight Festival (June), Round the Island Yacht Race (June, a fabulous view of this event can be seen from our patio, early in the morning the fastest of the Yacht's sail by followed by hundreds of smaller Yacht's for most of the day. This is the only Yacht race where novice/Sunday sailors and professional sailors can take part together in the Worlds biggest Yachting event. The worlds best known sailing event, Cowes Week Sailing Regatta (August), The Garlic Festival (August), Bestival (September), and many many County Shows that take place among our many beautiful villages all throughout the summer months. In fact there is hardly a weekend that does not have one event or another!

There is also over 500 miles of footpaths, and stretches of stunning coastline, the Isle of Wight is perfect for a walking holiday or a family break. Enjoy the unspoiled scenery, or have an activity filled vacation with sailing, windsurfing and paragliding all on offer locally. We have many cycle tracks across the Island some nice and smooth and others a bit more challenging.

Shanklin

Shanklin Esplanade has a vast amount of eateries and public houses all within walking distance. We have The Steamer Inn, The Waterfront Inn and Brasserie, The Aqua Hotel all very near by. There are also many little cafe's and Seaside Shops along our Esplanade along with Amusement Arcades and Crazy golf. But, most importantly our wonderful beach where you can hire deck chairs, sunbeds, parasols and pedal boats. We have a saying here in Shanklin that "if there is any good weather going we will get it" and that is so true.

Shanklin is most famed for its good weather and the pretty Old Village, which is located on the south side of the town, towards Ventnor and Bonchurch. The village is extremely pretty and most tourists head to the area for the thatched cottages, quaint shops and old fashioned tea rooms, thatched public houses, and attractive surroundings.

In the heart of The Old Village are several pubs which are attractive and provide good food and a great venue for a lively evening. Just past the entrance to The Crab Inn down the hill towards the stream, is the start of Shanklin Chine, a deep gorge carved out by the stream over many hundreds of years, which is a restful and picturesque place to spend the morning or afternoon and you exit right next to the beach and can refresh yourself in Fisherman's Cottage. In the evening the waterfall and woodland is illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere, a must see if you are visiting Shanklin. If you cross the stream and go up some steps you will enter Rylstone Gardens, where during the summer various bands play on a Sunday afternoon on the Band Stand,The Isle of Wight Youth Brass Band play there regularly on Sundays throughout the summer. Deck chairs are put out for hire for you to sit and listen or just relax if that is your desire on how to spend a lazy day.

“A welcoming and comfortable apartment in a great location.”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2013

I booked this apartment based on its good reviews and location and was not disappointed. Sara made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The accommodation is equipped with everything you could need and a lot of thought has also gone into the local information available in the info folder and leaflets. The nice sized terrace is a lovely spot for eating outside or just sitting gazing at the sea. The apartment is literally across the road from the beach and there are some nice places to eat very nearby. We had a wonderful week with wall to wall sunshine and really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review for us. We are so pleased that you had such a good time, and that the weather was alright for your visit.

“Perfect accommodation for a beach holiday”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

A warm welcome from Sara into a comfortable, clean and well equipped holiday home. Everything you need for a week away and Sara is nearby for anything that you might need. Perfect for a couple or a small family, especially if you plan on spending time on the beach as you can easily pop back to get drinks or make a picnic. Shanklin is a great location for self catering with several supermarkets close by to choose from and a variety of places to eat out nearby for when you can't be bothered. The designated parking space at the back of the apartments is good too, and public parking is also available on the esplanade and is free from 6 pm to 10 am which is good option if you have an especially large car. All in all a great holiday home in a superb location. We will be pleased to return in the future.

Thank you for writing such a wonderful review for us. We are so glad you had a great time and that the weather was good for you too!!

“Welcoming, thoughtful and obliging”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2013

The apartment was ideal for us and my elderly uncle. The owner was friendly and even offered a cup and saucer if the old fella would prefer one. Spot on quality accommodation, compact yet spacious enough for 3 or even 4 adults. Definitely planning to use again to fish the beach properly, just across the road. Highly recommended.

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We had some interesting conversations especially about H2o!!!and Chemistry. Wish my son had met you before his Alevels. We really hope that we will see you again soon. It was a pleasure to meet you all.

“Brilliant apartment and location”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2013

The apartment was absoluty brilliant, such a lovely homely feel to it . The location is supurb, just the other side of the road from the beach (what more could you ask!) and the owner, Sara, is so helpful, warm and welcoming. Would definetly stay again if we ever get the chance. Its definetly a 10 out of 10.

Thank you for writing a wonderful review for Seagull View. I wish you both luck for your future and I am glad to have met you both.

“A lovelly place to stay”

Sara the host made us feel very welcome, the apartment itself was very comfortable & had a cottage feel to the place, our first time at the Isle Of Wight would definatly consider another stay at the apartment, thank you again.

Thank you for writing a lovely review for us. It is a great help to our future guests and for us to know that you had a good time here.

“A home from home but with stunning views”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2012

The landlady Sara is lovely, very helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was clean, fresh and very comfortable. The added little extras made all the difference, tea, coffee and wine were awaiting us on arrival and Sara kindly allowed us to pop by early on the day or arrival to drop off our shopping. My son said this was the best holiday ever, loved being so close to the beach. Already booked again for next year.

Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review for us. We are so pleased that you have booked already for next August and we are looking forward to seeing you all again next summer.

“Out of there way”

How to put into word's our stay at Seagull view. Apart from AMAZING. It's been our first holiday in 4 yrs. Last year i got told my daughter had Dyspraxic I knew we had a problem but untill they told me didn't know what, then got told this year we also had Autism, so i knew that our holiday had to be in England as we had eating problem's so on the inter net i went and fell on Seagull view didn't book straight away and looked for others and yes i fell on Seagull view again. So looked into it fully and it was what we needed in England with the sun just across from the beach and just down the road from some fantastic restaurant. Yes we are going again as Sara went out of her way to google what my daughters condition was how nice is that.

I am so glad you enjoyed your holiday, and yes by the end of it I did get a smile from your lovely daughter, although she was shy to begin with. It would be a pleasure to see you all again. Thank you for choosing Seagull View.

“Fantastic apartment in great location”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sara very helpful and welcoming. Everything we could need was provided and the location across the road from the beach was fantastic, particularly as the weather was so good that we went nowhere else. Would stay for longer next time!

So glad you enjoyed your holiday and that the weather was good for you. It was great to meet you.

“perfect seaside break - home from home”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2012

We stayed in this apartment and loved it for many reasons. Sara was a very thoughtful and considerate landlady and was there to help if we needed anything. The apartment is cosy with everything included, even a hoover which when you have two young boys running in and out is a necessity, holiday or not! The location is perfect, near enough to the seafront but still tranquil and quiet and you can sit by the wndow and watch the world go by while you enjoy your cup of tea! Everything is so near by that to visit any attraction does not take hours and you also get 7 days free return on Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine which is well worth the money. Lovely short break. Will definitely be returning so watch out Sara "we will be back!!!

Thank you for your kind review. We are so glad that you had a great time and that the weather was good for the week you were here. It was lovely to meet you all.
