“A charming cottage in a glorious location”
We used Gable Cottage to stay in for my daughter's wedding in the local area and we could not have found a more appropriate place. It was warm, comfortable, beautifully decorated and equipped and had everything we could possibly have wanted. Louise had provided us with the most amazing welcome pack and she had filled the cottage with flowers for my daughter, checking with me what her colour scheme was in advance. She was exceptionally helpful and accommodating and we had the most perfect stay there. The fact that it looks out over glorious Wiltshire countryside and is in a very quiet location is a bonus. I cannot recommend this cottage and its owner highly enough - visit it and you will enjoy your stay!
“We have only been home a day and re-booked to go back!”
This is a beautiful life size dolls house surrounded with stunning scenery. The owners are very accommodating and could not do enough to ensure we had a lovely break away. We arrived to an amazing welcome hamper of cakes, biscuits, chocolate eggs (it was Easter), milk, juice and wine. We got to have a tour of the beautiful Berwick St John and the lovely owners even took time out of their busy schedule to introduce us to the baby lambs (our 4 year old loved her time on the farm). The cottage has everything you may need from sandwich bags to twister! There is a very good old fashioned traditional pub - The Talbot that serves fabulous food a stones throw away and an excellent butchers not far away in Ludlow. We have a family cottage holiday every year and this is the cream of the crop!
“Outstanding cottage in peaceful countryside”
This is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. The cottage is a detached house with three double bedrooms, a fully - and I mean fully - equipped kitchen, and a pleasant sitting room. The bathroom is downstairs. Outside is a lovely garden with views to the Dorset hills, with outside seating provided. Everything is in immaculate condition. The cottage is off the main road in a truly quiet location, on the edge of a charming village reached by narrow sunken lanes. And the best thing of all? The owners are genuinely friendly and welcoming. Not only were we welcomed with flowers in each room, home made biscuits, scones. clotted cream and wine, but the kitchen was most thoughtfully stocked with sugar, milk, herbs, butter, bread - all those things which you might just forget to bring. And when we suddenly needed a ream of white paper (don't ask!), this was no problem either. We shall certainly return. Many thanks for everything, Louise!
“Best welcome pack ever !”
Arrived to a beautiful house with the most extensive welcome pack I have ever seen, including flowers in each room, chocolates, wine, breakfast goodies and full clotted cream afternoon tea with scones - wow! The house was really well equipped, with lovely views and in a beautiful part of the English countryside . Good pubs locally with excellent food. Country lanes mean it takes longer to get anywhere than you think its going to but as long as you are not in a hurry... The only thing the house lacks is an upstairs toilet but we knew that when we booked . We couldn't ask for more
We (3 children aged 5 to 12, 1 dog and my husband and myself) stayed at Gable cottage the last week of the Easter holidays, cottage was clean, welcome pack was a pantry with everything you need plus extras. The cottage has good walks, a very nice pub all within a very short walk. The owners live close by and run the farm which meant we had a tour around and saw some very young lambs which the children loved.
“Really lovely cottage in peaceful and picturesque setting.”
This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Guests are warmly welcomed with many surprises such as flowers in most rooms, essential food items such as milk, tea, coffee and many lovely extras such as clotted cream, jam, scones, cakes, bread and a bottle of wine! The beds are really comfortable and there are plenty of fresh towels and a very well equipped kitchen. The setting is peaceful and the village is pretty with many lovely walks on the dorstep. We have stayed twice and just booked a third visit later in this year.
“Beautiful and relaxing cottage.”
We stayed recently for a long weekend. what a treat...a beautiful cottage with wonderful views. The furnishings are perfect for the property...and all the rooms well equipped with plenty of utensils etc in the kitchen. Extra blankets in the bedrooms in case you get chilly, things like hairdryers, towels and games are all provided. Extras like beautiful fresh flowers in each room and yummy goodies including cream tea and breakfast croissants were an unexpected treat and quickly gobbled up by us all. A really lovely stay... wonderful hosts and Louise kept in touch regularly in the weeks prior to our arrival checking our requirements and making sure equipment was in place for our 2 year old. I have no hesitation in recommending this gorgeous cottage in its idyllic spot. There is no doubt that we will be back soon!
“Peaceful, comfortable, family-friendly cottage”
Arriving to a pantry full of food, a cottage full of fresh flowers and beautiful surroundings was a superb start to an excellent stay. Located in a small village with a pub serving good food and only an hour away from Bath, staying at this cottage meant we could go on great country walks with our dogs from the house, or visit the delights of Bath with our teenage daughters. The cottage is very well equipped, including having WiFi, which meant everyone was happy on a rainy day! Now scanning the diary to work out when we can book again.
“A classic sleepy Dorset cottage.”
If you are looking for a cosy Dorset cottage to hide away from the rat race of life this is for you! The property was clean, tidy and well layed out. and located in the beautiful Dorset chalk valley village of Berwick St. John near Shaftesbury. There is a super local pub close by too!" I loved the traditional larder and American style fridge and proper farmhouse kitchen table. The shower was adequate and hot but I would prefer a cubicle rather than one over a bath. Overall I class this as a real find and perfect "bolt hole" to rest and enjoy sleepy Dorset.
Arrived to be welcomed by generous host Louise. The cottage has a magical view over the field full of sheep and the Dorset countryside. The cottage had all we wanted (me plus 3 teenage boys!). Will be going back!
