Location description from owner

The Algarve region

Very good climate
Paderne - Paderne is a parish within the municipality of Albufeira. The ruins of the former Moorish castle are worth a visit.

The earliest origins of Albufeira go back as far as pre-historic times; it was later occupied by the Romans, who called it Baltum. The name of Albufeira goes back to the times of the Moorish occupation Al-Buhera when it became an important trading port in the 8th. century. Today only the tiled information panel at the location of the former doorway to the Moorish castle reminds to that period.

Albufeira was finally taken from the Moors by the knights of the Order of Santiago (St. James) in the middle of the 13th. century. It was then a fishing village for many centuries and was granted its charter on 20th. August 1504 by D. Manuel I.
One of the cities most affected by natural disasters, it was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake.

From the 1960s, Albufeira began to be visited by tourists from all over the world, and became one of the biggest tourist centres of present times.

Zoo Marine - Entertainment park with seal- and dolphin show, parrots, aquariums, merry-go-rounds, pool and restaurant

Plenty of Nightlife, there a lot of Restaurants and Bars in Albufeira, for example Libertos, Wild & Co, Kiss, Casa do Cerro, etc

Albufeira boasts beaches where the sand is fine and the sea a turquoise blue sheltered by cliffs which are canvasses painted with a whimsical palette of natural hues. It is for its beaches that Albufeira is internationally renowned, because all of them are different... and they are all equally enchanting.

Golf - Salgados is already one of the symbols of the Portuguese golf. In fact, the proximity of the sea and the variety of lakes make this a very interesting test of golfing skills.

“Fabulous pool and gardens”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2016

Lovely comfortable villa, good quiet location but in easy reach of excellent restaurants and and 3 beaches all within 15 minutes walking distance. (Villa is much nicer than it looks on the photos) The pool and slide provided hours of entertainment for our two children aged 9 and 11, there is also a table tennis table which was a bonus. Spar supermarket 15 minutes walk and a mini market just across the road for basic provisions. Silvana was great, lovely pack of groceries on arrival and dealt with all our questions promptly, very helpful with information on the local area and numbers for taxis etc. Kitchen was tiny which might be an issue if you were planning on cooking your meals, we were not so it was perfectly adequate for our needs. Would highly recommend.

“Could be wonderful with a few tweaks”

Plus : maid service, on site gardener/pool man, pool, wasn't asked for security deposit, air con in bedrooms, beautiful beaches on doorstep. Owner showed us around upon arrival.good value. Negative : No oven, no welcome pack, poor satellite tv, didn't get Internet until 2 days after arrival, no instructions for appliances/TV/ wash machine. Car required if you want to get about unless you want to fund the Portuguese taxi industry !

Dear Mr Keith Rolleston, Thank you very much for your review. We would like to inform you that all the negative points you mentioned were solved. Now the villa as a electric oven. I really appreciate your review and thanks. Regards Silvana

“Wonderful”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

Casa Velha was a great villa for our family holiday. Our kids 1 and 3 loved the pool (especially the shute) and the children's play area in the grounds. The pool was just the right size for swimming and playing and the shaded dining area was perfect for eating out and for when the children got too hot. Location-wise we were spoilt for eating out and although the beaches were easy to walk to we easily spent all our time at the villa and the pool. Our transfers to and from the airport ran like clockwork and the owners couldn't have been more helpful and indeed went above and beyond the call of duty - they really couldn't have been nicer. The only thing we would have liked would have been an oven but as the restaurants were so good and so near it wasn't an issue.

“A place to relax in beautiful surroundings where the only thing you hear are the birds in the trees.”

Casa velha is set in a larges area of gardens and trees along with casa nova and casa joinal, they are all far apart from each other so there is complete privacy around the villa and the freedom to walk around the beautiful grounds. Our children loved the pool and we found it hard to get them to leave the villa to go for days out. Inside is comfortable and spacious however the kitchen is small. It has a great BBQ area which we used all the time. The gardener/pool guy. Was there every week day and he was very helpful if we had any problems. It's only a pleasant 15 min walk to the supermarket and about 25min walk to the beach with kids. Different restaurants Cater for everyone's taste.you can get a taxi for about 5 euros to albufeira. Silvana who is the owner arranged for days out if we let her know what we wanted to do. And a big positive is that free airport transfers were included, airport 40mins away. Altogether another relaxing holiday here and one where we knew our 5 year old daughter was completely safe to walk the gardens and play in huge private gardens. Thank you Silvana we will see you again soon.
