Description

Beautifully built & appointed, traditional Haute Savoie wooden chalet in Servoz. The 148m2 of living accommodation, including 2 lounges, 4 double bedrooms is on the top floor. There are 2 balconies, the largest of which commands a superb view of Mont Blanc.

Set in a private cul-de-sac, the chalet is beautifully quiet & the scenery picturesque any time of year. Its a renovated farm building, which is why one side of the house has velux instead of windows. The other side gives dramatic views of the mont blanc massif. There is underfloor heating throughout, which can be set for every room, wifi throughout & sky (freeview) TV as well as netflix.

Inside you can lie in bed - or in the bath & watch the stars at night or the clouds drifting by. There are two living areas, we use one for the three children, so there are plenty of toys. Its a TV room too as there is a flat screen & DVD player (or a disco using our glitter ball - the kids love it!) This area also has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, to a covered balcony looking down the valley.

There is a gigantic washroom, again with floor to ceiling height window. It has an oversize washing machine - necessary for a large family! & a large freezer. This is able to be converted into a 5th bedroom with single bed, but it would have the washing machine & freezer in it, so not advertised!

3 bedrooms lead off from this second living room. My en-suite is the smallest of the rooms and still has a king-sized bed in it & 3 built in cupboards. It has a glass door leading to the balcony & a small window. The bathroom is lovely, with a bath underneath a velux & sink.

My daughters' room has two full, sized twin beds & ample room to play, as well as two double built in cupboards. It has a velux so at night is really dark & cozy. If you care more about beds than luxurious living, we can easily make this room into a 4 bed, bunk room for children.

My son's room is totally charming, with exposed beams and an antique carved wooden bed. Its an old bed and this means that although it is a double, people must have been smaller in the old days as its definitely shorter & narrower than my bed! It has two built in wardrobes and additional shelves.

Along the corridor, you come to the family bathroom, with stone top, double sink and an enormous tiled wet room. There is also a heated towel rail as well as cupboards under the sink (with scales and hairdryer).

Then there is the last bedroom, currently unused, but with a day bed that pulls out to a double.

There are two toilets, one has a sink. One bathroom with shower room and one bathroom off a bedroom with a bath and sink.

The living area is a really good size, we only need one sofa in it currently, but if you have alot of people, we can move the matching leather sofa that is currently on our second lounge, no problem. The widescreen TV is set on the wall, surround sound speakers and has sky freeview and we will give you the netflix password. There is also a Bose stereo that you can put your ipod in and a DVD. From the comfy reclining armchair and settee you can soak up the mountain views and look directly into the famous Gorge de la Diosaz.

You can get to the large, partially covered terrace through double glass doors in the sitting room or a door out of the adjacent amercian style kitchen. It has lovely views - day or night, winter and summer alike. There is a large wooden trestle table and sunchairs to help you relax outdoors.

There is also a (well used) table football, blackboard & play table for the children (or you!)

The kitchen has marble worktops and splashback and is fully equipped. If you have any special requests - we probably have it somewhere!

Downstairs at the entrance way there is a large cupboard with space for skis and boots and plenty of room in the foyer for hanging coats.

Guest Access

You have access to all of the above. The chalet is in Servoz, so is flat and you can park immediately outside the front door. There is also covered parking space for 1 x car under our terrace and space for 3 more cars at the side of the house.

Interaction with Guests

We will help you as much, or as little as you need. If we are away, our neighbour is English and runs a chalet company, so can help - our other neighbour is French and will also do anything to help in an emergency.

The Neighborhood

Servoz has recently been highlighted on French TV as a "typical Haute Savoie village". Its a sleepy, sunny village with a local shop, 3 restaurants, 2 bars a creche, hairdresser, post office and tourist office. It also has free very well marked walks and ski de fond paths. And there is a beautiful river that runs though it with many walks. Every Wednesday in the winter is offers free vin chaud and drinks on the village green and free ski joering for children.
