Description

There are two apartments available in the center of the beautiful and charming town of Serra San Bruno.

Close by is the famous Carthusian monastery, Serra San Bruno Charterhouse (Certosa di Santo Stefano di Serra San Bruno), around which the town grew up. The town is named after Saint Bruno of Cologne, who founded the Carthusian Order in 1053 and the Grande Chartreuse, mother house of the Carthusians, near Grenoble, in France. He built the charterhouse of Serra San Bruno in 1095, and died here in 1101.Serra is located at an elevation of 870 mt and is surrounded by beautiful forests, with small rivers.

It offers an unique calm, and relaxing holiday time with possibility to make hikes in the beautiful neighbouring forests, into the "Parco delle Serre". Maybe it is for this reason that saint Bruno decided to stop here and build his Chartreuse. You will get here a lot of fresh air especially in the hot summer, good food, nice people.Serra San Bruno is the perfect place

Maybe it is for this reason that saint Bruno decided to stop here and build his Chartreuse. You will get here a lot of fresh air especially in the hot summer, good food, nice people.Serra San Bruno is the perfect place to fully regenerate your spirit and rediscover yourself in a nice slow passing of the time, far from the city stress. It is still a genuine little town.

The forest around Serra are fantastic, there are recent trails being created to enjoy the nature around Serra San Bruno in the "Parco nazionale delle Serre" with the majestic and beautiful "Abies alba" in the "bosco Archifòro" with the biggest "Abies alba" in Europe, it is 55 m tall and 5.5m large.

Not far from Serra one can visit the Monte Stella with its beautiful "Eremo di Santa Maria della Stella".

The south italian "stonehenge" is also not far from Serra San Bruno. It is in the "Comune of Nardodipage". Very mystic place to visit in the middle of beautiful forests and granite stone.

The "cascata di Marmarico" the highest cascade in Calabria can be reached in two hours hike from Ferdinandea (an historic place that is 13 km far from Serra).

Ferdinandea is an area of 3600 hectare in "Serre Calabresi". Ferdinandea is entirely covered by fir and beech woods. The name originates from King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies, who used the area for hunting after 1832. He later turned it into a metal industry center, building here a foundry, ironworks, residential and administrative buildings and stables.

In addition to the forests, one of the biggest canyons in Europe are in the " Valli cupe di Sersale" that are about 89 Km far from Serra San Bruno.

From Serra it is possible to reach the town of Reggio Calabria (110 Km from Serra) and there visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale with the Riace bronzes. The fascinating "Parco archelogico di Scolatium" is 52 Km from Serra, and many other archaeological sites are also close by.

Serra San Bruno is only about 37 km far from the Ionian sea with its beautiful beaches and clear sea water.

It is 60 km far from the cute town with beautiful beaches of Tropea and Vibo Valentia on the Tyrrhenian sea from there one can reach the Aeolian Islands.

In the hot summer it is the perfect place to be, surrounded by mountains, fresh air, but not far from beautiful beaches. The airport of Lamezia Terme is 60 km from Serra.

The apartments are being fresh renovated. One apartment is on the second floor of an independent old house. It has one main bedroom with a king-size bed and a smaller bed-room with a single bed and and extra two single-beds. There is one bathroom with shower and window, a small equipped kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, and washing-machine; a living-room and a dining-room with the fireplace, two balconies (one facing north and the other facing south). The apartment itself is full of light.

The second apartment is on the ground and first floor of this old house. On the ground floor there is the living room the dining room a small kitchen with private entrance and a bathroom with bath-tab. On the first floor there are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a big double bed and terrace with private bathroom with washing-machine and shower the other bedroom has two/three single beds with a balcony.

The apartments are located in the very central old part (centro storico) of this little, cute town od Serra San Bruno, nearby there are shops, banks, farmacies etc etc. There is the possibility of having a private garage (to be payed extra) . Note that the apartments can accomodate up to 5 people.
