Les Glycines is one of 2 gites, the other is attached to the main house where we live all year round. So somebody's always on hand if there are any queries or problems.
Within a short drive there are plenty of restaurants and activities: canoeing, sightseeing, horse riding, tennis, golf, fishing, walking in beautiful countryside. Bergerac is a short drive away for all the chic shops and restaurants. Situated close to bastide towns with local markets.
There is an 18 hole championship golf course at Castelnaud, near Villeneuve sur Lot which is about 15 mins away. There is also a tricky 9 hole course at Tombebeouf also about 15 mins away.
For those looking to visit a more prestigious course, Chateau Vigier offers a 27 hole course in a truly beautiful setting overlooked by the château.

Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Serignac-Peboudou

The nearby medieval Bastide towns, Eymet, Montflanquin, Villereal, Issigeac, etc. all have weekly markets on different days and are a delight to visit, perhaps do some shopping or just sit and watch the activity whilst sampling the regional dishes and wines.

The towns of Bergerac and Villeneuve-sur -Lot, some 30 kilometres south, both have beautiful old centres with plenty of restaurants and large supermarkets.

Nearby places of interest include the chateau of Biron, the chateau at Duras, the beautiful hill villages of Pujol and Pen d'Agenais or the classic bastide town of Montpazier.

There are many interesting places to visit on a day trip. St Emilion is beautiful and a wine lovers paradise. The renowned prehistoric sites in the eastern Dordogne, the fantastic cave paintings at Lascaux, especially, Roumillac with a small train through the caves. Roc St Christophe, an old cave dwelling, and many other minor caves with wall paintings, etc. There are also the beautiful towns of Sarlat, Domme set on top of a hill, Beynac and its castle, Roc Gageac on a cliff beside the river.

Canoe trips down the Dordogne river are very popular. You are driven upstream with your canoe and then paddle, or drift, downstream through really beautiful countryside and old towns back to your car, whole or half day trips are available. Also there are excursions on the Lot or the river Dropt.

Golf is ever popular. There is an 18 hole championship course at Castelnaud, near Villeneuve sur Lot, some 20 minutes away where you can pay green fees and play. 15 - 20 minutes distance is the 9 hole course at Tombebeauf, not as easy as it looks and you may need a good supply of golf balls as you easily lose them in the water. The prestigious, very popular, golf course at Chateau Vigier is some half hour drive.

There is a riding stable nearby where they are happy to take both experienced riders or simple beginners if you fancy having a go. Tennis courts are available in the nearby towns of Castillonnes and Lauzun.

One of the mosy popular places with children is the swimming lake in Lougratte. This lake has a small beach, pedalos, canoes etc.

There is a donkey farm not far away where children can have rides or enjoy a short run around in a small cart pulled by a donkey.

“A great place to stay with young children”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2014

Les Glycines is great value for money set in immaculately-kept and peaceful surroundings. The accommodation is tastefully furnished, well-equipped and ideally suited to families with young children. Thanks to the thoughtful addition of blackout blinds on the windows we were able to get the kids down with no problems before enjoying an evening meal on the large and private under-cover space outside. The owners Mark and Elaine were incredibly helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Adding a personal touch, the inside of the gite is brightened up by some of Mark's own watercolour paintings. The garden area outside is very well tended and the pool area large enough so that even when the two on-site gites are occupied, there is plenty of room for swimming and sunbathing. Our children especially enjoyed blackberry picking in the woods behind the property and helping Elaine clean the pool in the morning! This is a property that we would definitely consider returning to and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

“comfortable well equipped gite with friendly and helpful owners”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2013

the property was clean and well equipped with comfortable furniture and a pleasant outlook. Lovely large swimming pool but need to take care on entering down the steps as the first step is much larger than you would expect. loungers and umbrellas provided but the addition of something soft to lie on needed especially for the older person. the British owners were lovely and friendly and very helpful.
