“Just abandon your car on arrival......so many views & walks straight from this amazing house”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2016

Our dream location, proper Poldark scenery from every single window. How wonderful to be able to walk straight from the house in every direction. No need to worry about parking and traffic. Yes it's hilly but we soon got used to that, even the 7 year old and we feel very fit now! We could get down to Sennen Cove to see the RNLI, shops and beautiful beach, to Lands End and back along the breathtaking coastal path, an evening picnic on the beach, surf lessons at Smart Surf School (they were hilarious as well as excellent instructors). Then back (exhausted) to the wonderfully spacious, tastefully decorated & will equipped Old Vic with our dreamy four poster.....

“Beautiful relaxing stay right by stunning coastal scenery”

Reviewed 25 Jan 2016

We stayed for two nights and would have liked to stay longer. The location is amazing, we could see and hear the sea from our room. The house is very comfortable and spacious and whilst we stayed as a group of friends, we would definitely like to return with the children. The fire and living room is really cosy, we visited in January and enjoyed lovely coastal walks, cream teas and local pubs, however I can imagine in Summer, it is equally fantastic, with the nearby beaches and the house has gorgeous grounds to enjoy.

“I can't wait to go back!”

What a beautiful house and the views are stunning from every single window. We stayed at the Old Vic in January with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. I couldn't have wished for a better place! We enjoyed coastal walks in the rain and wind storms to warm up in local pubs or enjoyed playing board and card games in the house in front of a warm fire place. The house is beautiful, comfortable and versatile. We stayed with 6 adults but have already decided to come back in summer with the children. Can't wait!

“Treasure found just off Land's End.”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2016

Even in the context of Cornwall, I am convinced this house is special. The location is a short walk from Land's End and a short drive from Penzance. The Old Vic itself is a wonderful place, perfect for hosting a big family or in our case a group of friends. It is spacious, nicely furnished and welcoming. Impeccably tidy throughout and with a well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are comfortable, bathrooms clean and well presented. It was a short stay, and although we had a lovely, relaxing time - I would've certainly enjoyed a few more days to take advantage of the walking and winter evenings by the fire. The First and Last Inn, a few hundred metres from the door, is being renovated - maybe next time.

“What a credit to Real Cornwall!”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2012

Being Cornish we didn't have far to come to stay at "The Old Vic". The occasion was to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary with ALL the family - my son, his wife and their 2 children aged 7 and 4 and my daughter and her husband and their 2 children aged 3 and 6 months. We chose this superb building as it contained all the accommodation we required and it was in a beautiful part of Cornwall which we know well. The owner , Mrs Bretz has thought of everything an extended or smaller family might desire and the information supplied would enable anyone from anywhere to enjoy the real delights of the County of Cornwall. We were perfectly happy with our venue and the accommodation and would recommend Old Vic to anyone who would like to experience the best that Cornwall can offer. All the rooms were comfortable including a splendid conservatory overlooking the coastline. Very enjoyable walks abound in this area and Lands End is a short distance away. The property is also close to one of the best beaches in Cornwall and within the area there is much to see and discover. We enjoyed the feeling of being "locked " into a time capsule away from the madding crowd. We could see our favourite Isles of Scilly from a number of bedrooms.Cape Cornwall was clearly visible as was the Longships lighthouse off Lands End. Simply superb!

“A gorgeous home in a lovely setting”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2012

The Old Vic is an impressive old house with lovely sea views. The house is cleaned between guests and maintained in amazing condition, a great feat considering the scale of the house! It is a lovely holiday home, grand but cosy, modern yet traditional. The owner and staff have thought of everything to make the guests' stay comfortable and every convenience is provided from a high chair to tumble dryer, baby changing mat to kitchen scales, BBQ to hairdryer.. All the rooms were gorgeous and there was enough room to accommodate our large extended family comfortably with space to have time to ourselves if we needed it. A cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch and made us feel so welcome. The customer service we received was excellent. The owner was more than helpful and she was quick to answer any queries we had in the lead up to the holiday, even when she was on holiday herself. The housekeeper gave us a courtesy call to let us know that an electrician would be visiting to fix a light, she also checked that everything was in order and we were happy. The gardener was friendly but hard-working and does a sterling job of the grounds. The location is lovely. The adults enjoyed waking up to sea views and the toddlers enjoyed seeing cows right outside their windows! The beach is only a few minutes walk away (directions are given in the information pack) and there are some good tourist attractions within an hour's drive. There are a few amenities just down the road including a Costcutter, which provides the essentials. Thank you Sarah for letting us stay at your fantastic holiday home. The only thing we didn't like was leaving (the toddlers took a bit of convincing/bribery to part with the wooden toy train set)!

“Fantastic place to spend February half term with 6 children!”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2011

We had a wonderful week at the Old Vic, it's a beautiful house, plenty of space and charmingly furnished. The local beaches are stunning (even in the rain) and there are lots of interesting places to visit only a short drive away. There is everything provided to make a stay with a baby and young children comfortable and enjoyable from cot and highchair to toys and books. HIghly recommended.
