“Looking for a caravan that represents good value for money on a fun family holiday site then this is the one for you!!”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2017

I have recently returned short break here. I found Deborah to be quick and informative to my queries both before and after booking. I was a little disappointed however that it was not mentioned until after I had paid for the booking that the facilities on the immediate site were unavailable due to renovations, not of course the owner fault, but as we were communicating about other things prior to booking it would have been good to know. However once we arrived it was really no issue at all so do not be put off by this if you are considering booking. There is a free bus service, that Deborah had advised of, which runs every ½ an hour and takes you right to the main swimming/entertainment area on one of the adjacent sites. The caravan is situated in an ideal location only a very short walk (2 minutes max) from the bus stop but away from the main road so it was safe for the little one to play outside. We didn’t arrive on site until 8pm and were pleasantly surprised to find reception still open to collect the keys as we were expecting to just find security at that time of night so was nice to have a ‘proper’ and get some directions to the caravan. The caravan is not the newest and could do with a little TLC around the edges however I believe that this is reflected in the cost of the rental. Expectations should be mindful of this especially as this is even mentioned in the owner’s description. That being said there were some really lovely extra touches that were much appreciated such as penguins on the bed on arrival (chocolates not the birds) and complimentary tea and coffee provided. The beds were freshly made up and first impression visually was very positive. The beds themselves were very comfortable far more so that other caravans we have stayed in. The layout of the caravan works really well and makes it feel very spacious. The master bedroom is much larger that any other I have seen and covers the full width of the caravan with plenty of space to walk around the bed and get ready and so on. The caravan is equipped with fully working oven, hob, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle heater, tv/dvd play (in main lounge) and a further TV in the main bedroom (I assume it works, we didn’t use it). We had a slight issue with not being able to work out the hob/oven but this was our fault not the fault of the equipment, just needed to use the ignition stick in the draw!! It’s simple once you know. There is obviously an issue with damp in the caravan however again I think that this is reflected in the price just something to be wary if you have little ones in your party. I must say however that we were staying during the peak of ‘Storm Brian’ and were safe and cosy in the caravan. In terms of the sight itself we utilised the free bus service to take us to ‘The Oasis’ daily. The swimming pool is great for little ones and a separate lane pool should you so wish. Although be aware that there is a minimum height restriction on the lazy river and there is also a rule were you are not allowed to take any belongings poolside including towels which I found a little odd. We also had a great time in the arcade there are all sorts of machines and plenty to keep you entertained on a rainy day. Evening entertainment was typical holiday club style full of energy and entertaining for all the family including cash bingo. Bar prices are average - a double gin an lemonade was around £7.50. I also thought it was really good that although check out is 10am you are free to use the facilities for the rest of the day which is an added bonus. Back to the caravan itself the only thing that we were a little upset about was that the fridge was mouldy on arrival which meant that I had to give this a thorough clean throughout. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take pictures at the time (I was more keen on getting it sorted and popping the processo!) so I could not supply these to the owner when request. On the basis of the other reviews I would say that I believe that this was a one off and just very unfortunate. So all in all perhaps alittle bit of a mixed review but would I stay again… yes absolutely. If you are looking for a caravan that represents good value for money to use as a base on a fun family holiday site then this is the place for you. Hope to return again next year to make some more memories. Thank you for having us. Hannah and co.

Owner's reply: It was a pleasure to welcome you as our guests Hannah and thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comprehensive review. I would take some issue with the comments about the fridge though! In my arrival text to you claimed that the fridge was "full of mould", this would suggest a build up over time. I cleaned the caravan personally myself before your arrival and this was certainly not how it appeared to me and I am sure previous guests would have commented had it been "full of mould" so there may be some elaboration on your part here :( ... or maybe I need to go to Specsavers! Thank you also for flagging up the issue with the renovations. These started much sooner than we had expected and so we weren't able to notify guests at the point of booking. We have now added this to our accommodation information here and next time you come hopefully you will be able to take advantage of the new super duper facilities that we are all very excited about.
