Description from owner

Description

Cheviot Cottage in Seahouses is a charming and cosy end of terrace, stone built cottage which was formerly 'The Badger' pub in the 1800s and still retains much of its original character today. With wooden beams and fireplaces, the cottage has a cosy and warm feel and the upstairs accommodation is spacious and welcoming. It is located in the village, close to the shops, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and most importantly the beach and harbour where you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands. Bamburgh Castle and village are close by as are many of the popular local attractions on the Northumberland coastline.

Both the lounge and dining room provide a warm and comfortable environment, where you can relax in front of the real coal fire, set within the original fireplace. The cottage has electric 'dimplex' panel heaters, as well as two coal burning fires (limited initial starter fuel provided). Relax in front of the fire, watch a DVD, catch up on some reading a book or play a game

Location description from owner

The England region

Northumberland is a mix of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, surrounded by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife. Covering 400 square miles, the Northumberland National Park is the least populated of England's National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude. There are thousands of paths and tracks all through the beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.

The historic town of Alnwick is only 10 miles away where you will find a thriving, historic market town with something a bit special! Even if you are not green fingered, a visit to Alnwick Gardens is a must, where you can stroll around the stunning gardens and waterfalls. Harry Potter fans of all ages should visit Alnwick Castle (or Hogwart's School) and relive some of the favourite scenes from the popular films.

The Heritage coastline is dotted with castles and villages and stunning beaches ideal for walking all year round. The Cheviot Hills are only a short drive away offering superb views across to Holy Island and Lindisfarne. Alternatively, a stroll along the coats to Bamburgh Castle (only 1 mile away) or a visit to Holy Island are both ideal for a family day out.

Seahouses

Craster is a small fishing village in Northumberland. It is renouned for its smoked Kippers, a fish that is prepared by L Robson and Sons Ltd in oak smoked barrels and is enjoyed by people throughout the country and even overseas.

From the rocky shore, there are amazing views of the impressive Dunstanburgh Castle which dominates this beautiful stretch of coastline. The castle is one of the largest fortifications in Northern England and can be reached on foot along a picturesque coastal footpath from the village across the fields following the rocky shore.

There are several lovely walks from Craster to enjoy, suitable for all ages.
