Location description from owner

The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest of the Italian islands, separated from the Continent by the Strait of Messina and surrounded by the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean Seas.

It is one of the pearls of Southern Italy and can be discovered, understood and experienced through a series of itineraries dedicated to areas of interest ranging from nature to history and traditions.

Nature seems to have endowed all its wonders to this land: mountains, hills and above all the sea, with its incredible colors, its crystal-clear water and the beauty of its seabeds, in no way inferior to those of other seas.

Here, the Mediterranean Sea, with its many little islands scattered around the coasts of Sicily - The Aeolians, Egadi and Pelagie Islands, Pantelleria and Ustica - offers unique and the intense sceneries, scents and flavors of uncontaminated nature.
Last but not least, its great volcanoes are symbols of the irresistible beauty and vitality of this incredibly charming region.

Fascination for this region grows with treasured archaeological sites that tell the story of the ancient origins of Trinacria (ancient name for Sicily).

Sciacca

Built on a hillside (which rises up to 870 m) in front of the sea, the city of Sciacca extends to the sea in a wide range of modern and old houses and a maze of steep slopes and long stairways.

Rich architectural and cultural heritage of great value and artistic beauty, Sciacca is a seaside town with beautiful coastline of fine sand and clear waters. Impressive is the district of Porto where moored one of the largest fleets of Sicily. Sciacca insists on an important spa, which is open all year round where you can make Thermal treatments using mud and mineral waters. In addition, on Mount St. Calogero, there is an ancient spa complex of caves whose walls emerge from the therapeutic vapors warm (between 36 and 42 ° C).

Flourishing is also the work of ceramic artists (ceramics Saccensi are renowned throughout the world) who exhibit their works in the many colorful shops of the city center. Rich is also the heritage of traditions and folklore: the Carnival of Sciacca, whose origins date back to Roman times, is unique and one of the most beautiful in Italy for the originality of costumes, floats in the manufacture of paper pulp, the skill of dance groups, musicality hymns, recitations in dialect, popular involvement.

Its location also allows you to perform a tourist route interesting and very impressive. Nearby there are in fact both archaeological sites of great interest is a series of islands (Egadi) within a short period of time that will enrich the holidays those who choose to stay in Sciacca. You love the nature you don't have to miss the "Oasi di Marevivo" at Eraclea Minoa and the nature reserve of "Torre Salsa".

A wonderful house in a wonderful location! I cannot speak highly enough of Roberto's property. The cottage was clean and had everything you could possibly need or want to enjoy a family break in this beautiful region. The service was of the highest standards and any family looking for a relaxing, quiet and truly memorable holiday in the Sciacca region would be very wise to contact Roberto to enquire about staying. We are already planning our return trip. Thank you Roberto and Nicola for making our holiday all the more enjoyable!
