Description

The ancient Dammuso is located in the Unesco area of Martingana.

Very secluded and away from the beaten path this is a corner of real paradise. The crystal water cove that lies just under your eyes is a spectacular seenery and an amazing spot for snorkelling. At sunset you can often hear the breath of dolphins coming to the cove to relax and play. In summer this is the most protected area from winds as it's located on the east side of the island, so perfect to enjoy amazing swims in the ocean.

It is in fact divided in 2 dammusos, the smaller one witha single bed can accomodate one person, the second one has 2 qeen size beds suitable for 4 people, outside is a small veranda and beside it is the kitchen. The bathroom with the shower is located on the outside.

The outside terrace overlooking the Mediterranean sea is the most fasinating part of the property, it has a barbecue where you can cook many delicious dishes,a must is the sword fish steak which is easy to find in the fish market at the port of Pantelleria. Sofas, beach chairs, hammocks and a comfortable table make this terrace the place

WHAT YOU CAN'T MISS

Of course swimming in the cove just under the house is a must.

If you are a fan of trekking and long walks i suggest you to hire Peppe Dialetti, a friend and by far the biggest expert of the mountain and Pantelleria, a real professional. He will organize you a tailor made exscursion. Don't miss the Montagna Grande(the big mountain). If you want to make a unique experience the night walk under the moon is breath taking.

The boat trip around the island, you can rent a dingy or a boat for daily excursions at reasonable price down at the port of Pantelleria.

Baths in the sulfuric muds of lake Venere. For sure worth a visit.

RESTAURANTS:

La Nicchia, located in the middle of the island, it this is one of my favourite restaurants, don't forget to order the "caponata di melanzane"

La Favarotta, i suggest you the rabbit and their home made ravioli, no website,

La Vela, this is during the day, spaghetti with sea urchins and the Bacio pantesco as dessert, it's out of this world!

Ristorante Principe e Pirata, this is the place for the best lobster spaghetti in the mediterranean.

Altamarea in the littlle town of Scauri just above the little port is a must for cocktails at sunset.

If you are a fan of wine it's worth taking some time to visit the vineyards of Donna Fugata, Murana and many others that are on the island, you can taste and buy.

L’italian way of life è uno slogan famoso nel mondo.
