BEAUTIFUL, QUIET, RELAXING, very hard to leave, to short a visit,

RIVERSIDE COTTAGE IS DELIGHTFUL. Colin and Myriam were so friendly and informative. We loved the time in the Loire Valley, such beautiful colours in the countryside.

WE HAD A FABULOUS TIME. Thank you especially for everything for our little boy and your recommendations.

HAD A GREAT TIME. A very characterful house. We loved the bird boxes! Thank you.

A LOVELY COTTAGE WITH BAGS OF CHARACTER. Great communication with the owner, who met all our requests and had good local tips. Family highlight was the zoo and some very theatrical gibbons. Highly recommended.

WE, A NORWEGIAN AND GERMAN COUPLE, spent an awesome weekend in this lovely cottage which has welcomed us with a bottle of a tasty Saumur cremant. It was a perfect choice for us, well equipped and clean. We enjoyed the Indian summer in the two gardens. The location is perfect for trips to explore the beautiful region, for which one weekend was too short. Communication was perfect, questions were answered promptly. We appreciate very much that you have a sense of your visitors needs, and that you consider for example also guidance to handle emergency situations (which we fortunately did not need).

THE PROPERTY WAS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED and very comfortably furnished, with a very good kitchen equipped with all utensils. It is a 10/15 minute drive to shops and restaurants but their is a very good local boulangerie within walking distance. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, with long walks by the river, the chance to relax in the garden with home cooking and a base to explore the Loire valley, then its perfect.

A LOVELY COTTAGE with bags of character. Great communication from Colin, who met all our requests and had good local tips. Family highlight was the zoo and some very theatrical gibbons. Highly recommended experience.

Merci

We (two couples) stayed in the cottage for a wonderful week in June. The setting is great if you want a quiet, relaxing place that is a short drive from culture and excitement. We had a wonderful time cooking in the well equipped kitchen and eating in one of the two delightful gardens. Angers and Saumur are a quick drive away (we didn't try use public transport but there is a bus stop a stones throw from the front door) and a boulangerie(sp?) a few minutes walk along the river-side path.

WE HAD A LOVELY TIME at Riverside Cottage - it is a very comfortable place to stay, full of French country charm. Our hosts Colin and Myriam were very helpful and quick to respond to our enquiries. Spring was definitely a great time to be there - with the gardens in full bloom!

THE COTTAGE WAS IN A PICTURESQUE LOCATION, right on the banks of the Loire. When we stayed, it was a bit chilly in the old stone cottage, but I can imagine it would be perfect in slightly warmer weather. Colin was very easy to contact, and kindly offered to provide us with an extra heater. The gardens are lovely - we unfortunately didn't get time to take advantage of the rhubarb! We would definitely recommend this place for those wanting to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Loire and for a relaxing getaway.

GREAT HOUSE IN THE LOIR VALLEY. Lots of character and situated in a beautiful area with many chateaus close by. Very impressive gardens and we definitely recommend visiting while the cherries are in season.

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME in the Loire Valley. The cottage is lovely and confortable, had everything we needed. Perfect hotspot to descover the region. Thanks to the owner for the outstanding hospitality.

RETURNED AGAIN for another great stay!

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME HERE, loved the house and gardens, loved the calm surroundings.

SUPERBE! Thanks for greeting us, had a great stay. An idyllic place, hope to come back.

WE HAD A LOVELY TIME HERE, Thank you very much!

WE HAD A WONDERFUL WEEK, thank you for your cottage, all went too quick, hope to see you again,

GREAT LOCATION for exploring the Loire, loved the house and gardens. A great few days.

We stayed in the Riverside cottage from 8th of Jan to 8th Feb 2013, it was a brilliant base to explore the surrounding countryside by taking lots of long walks and also just to totally relax as we are just recently retired and wanted somewhere to unwind, the central heating was great. The owner was very helpful, coming to see us when we arrived and explaining the house and area. We didn't have a car until the last week but as the bus stop is only metres up the road were able to get both to Saumur and Angers easily. The cottage was exactly as depicted on the website and we couldn't have asked for more, unfortunately as it was mid winter we didn't get to see the garden at its best but could imagine utilising it during the summer months. The boulangerie past the church towards Saumur is lovely, the owner is extremely helpful and speaks a little english, just past her shop is a great little gift store, wonderful for browsing and a handbag store where they make the leather handbags on site. We would definitely return to riverside cottage and highly recommend it.

A VERY ENJOYABLE FORTNIGHT in the Loire Valley and the cottage made a perfect base. We've feasted on raspberries and loved walks along the river. Our small son was facinated by the hot air ballons overhead.

WHAT A CHARMING PLACE! Thank you for a wonderful holiday in a most beautiful location.

WE HAD A LOVELY WEEK. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. Eleanor wants me to thank you for the great cot, high chair and changing mat. she really appreciated using them; "she is 11 months old - her hand writing isn't great!"

THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY WEEK. We have found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped and have had a very happy time here. Your visit to check that all way OK was much appreciated, we were so pleased to meet you and discuss the pleasures of the garden.

WE'VE HAD A LOVELY WEEK, rediscovering this beautiful area 'en vélo'. the cottage and garden (with delicious raspberries and apricots) have provided a delightful haven. Thank you so much.

WE HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL STAY and loved your cottage and it's pretty gardens. The weather has been perfect as we have been able to do a lot of visiting places without being too hot.A big thanks for providing us with great memories and we will certainly be recommending you to our friends.

WE HAVE HAD A LOVELY TIME in this beautiful part of the World. I have especially loved your garden and the well resourced kitchen. Hope to be back some day! Merci Beaucoup.

GREAT PLACE AND HOUSE. For wine tasting novices like us - recommend Langlois Chateau and Caves Louis de Grenelle.

WHAT A GREAT SPOT to enjoy the Loire!

LOVELY COTTAGE for our Christmas break. Very comfortable and good kitchen facilities.

“Perfect location to explore the Loire”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

This is a real Fench cottage in every sense of the word, very comfortable nice gardens well equiped, in fact a lovely place to stay. A visit to the Toglodyte cave restaurant between Gennes and Samur is an absolute must only 15 minutes drive from the cottage. a perfect base to experience the magic of the Loire valley.

Thank you for your review - I'm pleased that your 2 weeks at the cottage enabled to explore the area and same the wine and restaurants.

“Old style cottage in a great location - just what we wanted!”

Reviewed 28 May 2012

Loved the cottage with its slightly unusual layout. Plenty of space for the two of us and gave us a bedroom to spare. Kitchen well equipped, beds and sofas comfortable. Pretty cottage gardens to both sides meant we could have breakfast and dinner in the fresh air and sunshine. Great footpath alongside the Loire accessible from just across the road. Bar/restaurant and baker short walk away. Had a wonderful time and would recommend to friends. Liked the way the owner made contact during our 5 night stay to check everything was OK.

Thank you for your review. It's great to know that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and the footpath along the Loire River. Often walking West at Sunset the river turns to liquid gold!

“Well equipped gite in Central Loire Valley”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2012

We had a very enjoyable time at this cottage and it was an excellent base to explore the Loire region. The owner was helpful in getting the heat going our first night and making sure we had everything we needed. Even though the gite was on a medium size road, the traffic was very thin after 9 pm. The wifi worked very well, as did the satellite TV. The stairs down to the cottage would be diificult for someone with limited mobility, not that there were many stairs. The owner also took good care of the jardin and the numerous plantings were just starting to bloom by mid-March.

Great to hear that you both enjoyed your stay at the cottage. The garden was a little slow to get going this year due to an exceptionally cold winter. Traffic on the road is even less frequent during the summer holidays, (July to end September).

“Apartamento precioso en una ubicacion inmejorable”

Estuve con mi mujer a principios de febrero en este apartamento y nos encanto su ubicacion, el pequeño jardin que hay y la casa. La casa estaba muy limpia y completamente amueblada.

“Great Christmas Holiday - Good value for money”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2012

great accomodation, comfortable and clean. Well situated for day visits with the children and Christmas shopping. I recommend Angers for shopping, the Christmas lights were very beautiful. For the price, a very well equipt cottage, especially the kitchen.

“Relaxing on the Loire”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2011

Riverside Cottage is a traditionally furnished, comfortable, homely property offering a peaceful retreat from modern life, whilst offering "all mod cons". The owner was helpful and pleasant, and encouraged us to take full advantage of the facilities, with two gardens well equiped kitchen and satelite TV / WiFi. There is a supermarket a short drive away, local boulangerie and resturant, with the delightful Samur a few miles along the river. The Chateau is worth a visit, as is Angers where we took a tourist train around the old town. Locals are friendly, some good wine at good prices, and we included a trip to Paris - but this is nearly 3 hours drive, so be prepared to stop over to make the best of that. Great views of the river (and wildlife) which is literally on the other side of the road, and don't be put off by the weather beaten exterior as you arrive!

“Great Cottage, Lovely Location”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2011

We stayed at Riverside for a week with our 5 month old daughter and would thoroughly recommend the cottage. The cottage is easy to find and within a short drive of Saumur and a short walk of two boulangeries (the artisan one offers more choice and is open longer). The cottage is furnished to a good standard with everything you need for your stay including a very well equipped kitchen and is both cosy and comfortable. The owner kindly provided a cot and changing mat for us too. The two bedrooms are linked, which means walking through one to get to the other, this was great for us but may not suit everyone. Overall, a great place to stay.

“Beautiful, relaxing place to stay. Lovely gardens and very comfortable cottage”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2011

We really enjoyed our week at Riverside Cottage. It is directly opposite the Loire River where you can walk safely with young children. The Cottage was very well equipped - in addition to ample kitchen and BBQ equipment, the owner provided a very clean, new cot at our request. We were pleased that everything seemed to be available including UK TV and wireless internet (not very cultured I know, but did prevent one or two 2-year-old meltdowns at the end of a long day!). The gardens were particularly gorgeous, with one or other providing sunshine throughout the day. We brought with us a stairgate which was useful in providing a safe room upstairs in which to enclose our 2 year-old as the stairs are steep for children. I would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing stay in a beautiful area of France.

I am please that you had a relaxing stay with your family and that childrens TV worked its magic! The shower head you mentioned was replaced following the comments of a guest the week following your stay. If it has not been mentioned by the out going guests we might have overlooked a broken or malfunctioning item. Should you find anything that is not functioning please do contact us and we will do our best to get the item promptly repaired or replaced.

“An idyllic setting for a relaxing holiday in a traditional French cottage”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2011

We rented Riverside Cottage because we wanted a calm, hassle-free holiday where we could do as we pleased. We were not disappointed! The charm of this cottage just grows on you the longer you stay. It is old, it is slightly quirky, but it also has all the amenities you want. Plus satellite TV, if you can pull yourself away from long, leisurely walks along the Loire, which is literally just across the road! If you do want to stay home during the day, the gardens are outstanding. Tucked away below the levee, you can soak up the sun in complete privacy surrounded by plants and flowers - you can also eat any of the fruit that is in season! Saumur is a short drive away and is a good-sized town with a lovely chateau. The Loire itself is a haven for all sorts of wildlife, so take a pair of binoculars. We are keen walkers, and found some great marked routes just on the other side of the river (about ten minutes drive away). All in all, this cottage offers good, typical French gite-style accommodation at a very good price.
