Jesamine is conveniently situated within an easy 1 1/2 hours drive from Tours, Poitiers and Limoges Airports, and less than 7 hours drive from Boulogne and Calais. La Girardetterie is part of the commune of Saulnay and lies on the edge of the Brenne National Park, which has an abundance of lakes and pretty villages.
The cottage comprises a cosy, well furnished lounge with log burner, original beams, English TV, video and DVD player. There are plenty of videos and books, plus some board games.
The adjoining dining room is entered through an archway, and is open to the garden via french windows.
There is a newly refurbished and well equipped kitchen/diner with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and seated area. Off the kitchen there is a large bathroom with wc, vanity unit, and washing machine.
Upstairs, in the converted grenier, there is a double bedroom and a single bedroom, both with views over the village towards the woods. The large landing has a single bed, and screen for privacy.
There is a large garden with seating area at the back of the property as well as a small front garden which also has a table and chairs. There is also a BBQ and ample parking at the side of the cottage.
The surrounding area is a haven for nature lovers with woods, lakes and rivers. Ideal for birdwatchers, ramblers, cyclists and anglers. Perfectly situated for touring the Loire region, and the wonderful chateaux of the area, or simply a place to relax and unwind.
We do accept a well behaved dog but must insist it is not allowed upstairs.
The property is not really suitable for small children.
We have English friends in nearby Saulnay who look after the cottage for us. They will check if everything is satisfactory on arrival and will be available during your stay, if required.

The Berry region
The central region of La Brenne is said to be one of France's best kept secrets this is probably due to the size of the area and its ability to remain hidden from the casual tourist. There are many private and restricted sections within the park but a good map and guide will open up a wealth of opportunities. It is an area of rich flora and fauna delicately preserved by its 'National Park' status.
The area also offers a number of restaurants and there are designated cycling and walking paths as well as centres for horse riding and canoeing.
With over a thousand lakes, the Brenne is one of the most important fish farming regions of France. The Park itself was created in 1989 to preserve this exceptional "natural" heritage, however it is actually man-made, the first lakes being created by monks in the middle ages!
A terrific area for viewing birdlife, the Brenne is also home to a rich range of flora, numerous species of insects and stunning dragonflies and France's most important population of European Pond Tortoises.
There are over 100 marked walks ranging from 6 to 32km that can be followed from the maps available from local Tourist offices and there are hides open to the public and guided walks and tours including some with English speaking guides.
There are eleven marked circuits for cycle rides which can be a great way of seeing the Brenne with flat roads and very little traffic. Horse riding and canoeing are also available.
