The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The weather in and around Sarigerme during the 'season' is dry and sunny with warm balmy evenings.
Average temperatures are:
As the season progresses the sea temperature warms up from an April minimum of 17 C /65 F to a mid summer high of 26 C / 80 F.
From November until April there is still a lot of sunshine and the temperature rarely drops below 15 C ( 59 F) and long periods of rain are unusual, although it will rain at some time every couple of days.
The autumn and spring months are great times to explore the many archaeological sites in the area (Pamukkale and Ephesus) or an ideal time to walk the Lycian Way.
The Lycian Way is a 509km marked footpath around the coast of Lycia, from Fethiye to Antalya. It is a coastal walk and mild temperatures mean it can be walked throughout the winter months. We would recommend walking the route in in spring or autumn; February -May or September-November.
The route is graded medium to hard and is not level walking, but has many ascents and descents as it approaches and veers away from the sea.
According to the Sunday Times the Lycian Way is one of the ten most beautiful long distance hikes of the world..
Sarigerme village is within a 10 minute walk of the villa. Here you will find a selection of small supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
Tours can be booked to local attractions; we recommend Basket or Panda Tours.
Sunday brings the local market with plenty of shopping opportunities and the chance to sample a traditional Turkish pancake and a glass of freshly squeezed pomegranate or orange juice.
The stunning 5km Blue Flag Beach is reached either by car (large beach car park) or a 10 minute walk from the centre of the village. Acres of beautiful sand and outstanding facilities: there are sunbeds and umbrellas available at a small charge, a lifeguard on duty, first aid, toilets, showers and changing cabin, as well as food and drink outlets.
There are various watersports centres on the beach; learn how to sail a Hobie Cat, Kitesurf or simply swim out towards the small Island of Babaada.
Take a riverboat tour on the Dalyan Delta River to Iztuzu Beach or into Koyzegi Lake where you can visit the mud baths or just relax.
Iztuzu or Turtle beach has 5kms of crescent shaped, totally unspoilt beach to on which swim, walk or play. Motor boats are not allowed in this area, which is protected, because the giant loggerhead turtles breed between May and August. It is possible to go on early morning viewing trips to the beach to feed the turtles. There is also a turtle hospital/sanctuary which is well worth a visit.
The ancient trading city of Kaunos is just a short trip across the river. Marvel at the amazing Lycian tombs carved into the rock face in circa 400BC.
You can also hire bicycles and explore at your own pace. Lunch by the lake handfeeding terrapins is always a highlight!
The local market is a hive of activity every Saturday.
The bustling harbour and market town of Fethiye is on the south-eastern corner of The Gulf and about 45 mins drive from Sarigerme. It is the major commercial centre of the region and provides some fascinating sights and sounds, particularly on market day every Tuesday when the roads are full of vehicles of all types spilling over with all manner of produce destined to create the vibrant colours and smells of the market.
Fethiye retains a decidedly Turkish feel. Exploring the warren of shop-lined streets in the old quarter is a fascinating experience. Restaurants are abundant, and the authentic feel of Turkish life permeates the whole area, giving a real insight into town life in Turkey. The fish market is a particular favourite of ours. Choose your fish from the many fish stalls and for a small charge one of the many restaurants around the perimeter will cook it for you there and then, served with salad and freshly baked bread.

"Surpassed our expectations!"
With only a 20 minutes drive from Dalaman airport and a 10 minute walk into town (Sarigerme) the Villa is perfectly located. The villa is charming and comfortable - we were two families of four so the eldest two boys shared the sofa bed in the lounge which worked well. Overall I am more than happy to recommend the villa for a family holiday. You do however need a car to get to the excellent beach and to visit other sights such as Dalyan, Gocek, Fetiye and Salikent Gorge. Sarigerme is quite quiet but has enough shops and restaurants to ensure a full holiday experience.
Thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that you had a good time at Villa Sinclair and enjoyed the surrounding area. I hope we can welcome you back to Villa Sinclair in the future.

"Quite simply a wonderful holiday and would love to return sometime soon."
The villa is visually stunning and trust me, we have high standard! The facilities are plentiful and the decor is tasteful throughout. Sarigerme remains pretty unspoilt with the locals semmingly doing what they've always done and that certainly adds to the charm of the place. The beach is one of the cleanest ones I've seen and is well used by locals as well as tourists. The local markets were a great experience at both Sarigerme and Dalaman and would recommend a visit to at least one of these. One suggestion would be to run a 'ring and ride' mini bus service between the Lycia villas and the village. I would have been happy to pay an additional amount in the rental to cover this type of service.
Thank you for your review; I do hope that we can welcome you back again soon! I will take on board your "ring & ride" suggestion and see what can be arranged.

Villa Sinclair was absolutely superb. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and comfortable. It is a beautiful villa in an elevated position with a lovely clean and well maintained pool. The well-appointed bedrooms had comfortable beds and were air conditioned ensuring a good nights' sleep. The villa catered for our every need and nothing had been left un-thought of, even down to dedicated beach towels and a cool box and ice packs for impromptu picnics on the beach! Sarigerme itself was a lovely village to be based in, the local people very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed meals in all the local bars and restaurants with a particular fondness for the Dolphin Bar, Paradise Restaurant and Sarigerme Restaurant. The local supermarket was well stocked and Harry 'ferried' us and the shopping home with the local market providing delicious fruit and vegetables. We hired a car and scooters for a few days to get about and this can all be done locally. Thank you to Sarah who was always very helpful and made everything very easy for us and for providing such a lovely 'home from home' villa.
Thank you for your kind words, I am very happy that you had such a good time in Sarigerme and hope to welcome you back to Villa Sinclair in the future.

Villa Sinclair is an amazing villa it has been finished to a high specification and is maintained thoroughly, it has a great pool and views and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. It is well placed to explore and is an easy walk down (bit harder back) from the village. I travel a lot and this is the only place I have ever been back to (and will be visit again). The owner is very helpful and responds promptly to enquiries, the village is very welcoming and we were often given a lift home by the restaurant and the supermarket owner. We hired a car the second time, although you don't necessarily need one and we did a fantastic boat trip both great recommendations from the villa owner.
So happy to have been able to welcome you back, glad you had such a great time!

"Top quality Villa with amazing views and beautiful pool to cool off"
We stayed in this villa for 12 nights in July / August 2014 with our 3 teenage children. It is absolutely beautiful and I cant recommend it highly enough. It is a great base for seeing the south coast of turkey. We went to the local beach one day but the sand was too hot to walk on, and the pool with the villa was perfect as there is a welcome breeze on the mountain top. Shopping is excellent but of all the markets I would recommend Ortaca which is a 15 min drive away. Fethiye is too big and way too hot! We did two trips through Kapan tours which were absolutely fantastic and accommodating and Very reasonable - The 12 island tour is not to be missed, and the turtle beach trip was also excellent. Kaplan tours can be found on the sarigerme beach, or the pizza restaurant at the bottom of the town on the right. Beautiful holiday and great location. We will definitely return. The owners have catered for literally everything ! The location is perfect and very peaceful

"Everything you need for a wonderful holiday"
We stayed here recently with family and found it to be a wonderfully appointed villa. The kitchen contained literally everything you could want, the bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed, only slight downside is the blinds are a bit flimsy so the sunlight does wake you up in the morning. The swimming pool was great and well maintained and the information pack was very helpful.
We are planning to upgrade the blinds in the bedrooms in time for summer '15 to something thicker to help keep the light out!

"Our honeymoon at Villa Sinclair"
We wanted to go where neither of us had been before that was warm and had a relaxed feel. Our best man Lance had been to the villa only a few months before and recommended it. The villa is in a quiet peaceful spot, a few minutes walk from the local village. Everyone was friendly and the excursions available were good fun and interesting. There is a beach 20 minutes walk or a quick bus ride away which has water sports in abundance. I can't recommend stay at the villa enough, we had a fabulous, memorable time.
So glad you had a great time at Villa Sinclair!

"Beautiful New Villa with high quality finish and furnishings"
The thing that strikes you immediately about this villa is the high quality of the furnishings. Lots of thought and care has been given to making it comfortable. It is high up with views across the valley from its bedrooms and lovely pool which is not overlooked. It is a fifteen minute walk to the village which has a good selection of restaurants and bars and more t shirt shops than you will ever need. There is a free tractor trailer bus service to the beach from the village. Local tours a d taxis can be found in the village. A lovely lazy location.
