Description

Room 3201 is located on the top (32nd) floor of Sao Paulo's Icon, Edificio Copan, designed by Oscar Niemeyer.
It offers an unforgettable and continuously changing view over the Brazilian Metropolis.

The space is small: about 28sqm in total.

I bought it in 2011 in pretty much original, but desolate condition. It was then renovated and converted for its new use, increasing the size of the bathroom and bringing natural light in, while preserving all the original features, details and materials - sometimes reinventing their use.
The interior is very minimal, but it has everything a typical hotel room would offer including wifi, kettle and mini bar.
There is no kitchen, but there is an abundance of excellent options for eating out in all price ranges in the immediate surrounding. There is a 1400x2000 double bed with a good mattress. There is also a bookshelf with a specially selected collection of books, which is still growing and there is a small desk with

There is also a bookshelf with a specially selected collection of books, which is still growing and there is a small desk with stool built from the left overs of the original parquet. As I am constantly improving the room, I appreciate any feedback and suggestions from my guests.

As an extra I can arrange nice shared office/desk space for work with WIFI, printers, coffee machine and meeting room just around the corner from Room3201. Let me know if you are interested.

I am in London or Berlin most of the time. I can be contacted by telephone and email. There is a local contact person, who will greet arriving guests, hand over keys and can answer queries and also provide local information. She is an interpreter for English German French and Portuguese - so communication should be easy.

The location could not be more central.

The district called Centro is located at the point of intersection of the city's main thoroughfares, Centro is the region most well-served by public transportation in the city (served by all subway lines, except Line 5).

The area is composed of the Sé and República districts, plus the ring of districts around these two.
In the 1970s and 80s the area was seriously affected by an exodus of from downtown leading to urban degradation and rise of criminality. But more recently the trend has turned and the area has attracted many professional and creative people, who want to avoid commuter traffic and enjoy the proximity of jobs and amenities. Today many renovation projects are taking place, making the area confidently regain importance and take its place as the city's historic core and a vibrant commercial and cultural zone.

There is a large variety of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs galleries etc. in the immediate surrounding of the building.

The lower floors of the building itself contain amongst other things restuarants (both cheap and expensive), Coffee bar, Internet cafe, hairdressers, boutiques, beauty spa, and an art space named PIVO (http://www.pivo.org.br/en/).

The State of Sao Paulo region

São Paulo is one of the world's largest and most diverse cities and a global Metropolis. It is the largest city in Brazil, with a city population of about 11 million and almost 20 million in its metropolitan region.
The metropolis has significant cultural, economic and political influence both nationally and internationally. It houses several important monuments, parks and museums and the city holds many high profile events, like the São Paulo Art Biennial, the Brazil Grand Prix Formula 1 Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo Fashion Week, ATP Brasil Open, and the São Paulo Indy 300. Sao Paulo is also famous for the variety and excellent quality of its restaurants.
São Paulo's city downtown area (Centro or Downtown Zone São Paulo) is a Commercial District, a major Central Business District and home to most of the major institutions of higher education in the city. It contains most of the historical buildings and protected historic areas as well as some of the most important examples of modernist architecture.
Located at the point of intersection of the city's main thoroughfares, Centro is also the region most well-served by public transportation in the city (served by all subway lines, except Line 5). The area is composed of the Sé and República districts, plus the ring of districts around these two.

The shuttle bus from the main international Airport (GRU) brings you straight to Praça da República.
From the bus stop turn around the corner into Avenida Ipiranga and you will be able to see the most famous of Sao Paulo's Architectural Icons, the Edificio Copan, towering above neighbouring buildings just about 100m down the road.
