LOCATION :
Our apartment is situated in the bay of SAO MARTINHO DO PORTO (very charming, also for children) - Central Portugal.
t is about 100 KM from Lisbon and can be reached by rental car or by public transport (www.rede-expressos.pt)
Thanks to its good location, you can visit a lot of charming cities or beaches in the neighbourhood.
With only a 5-minutes walk through the picturesque village, you will reach the beach with its many restaurants and charming bars.
Intermarché is 100 M away, and there is an indoor market 50 M away, with portuguese specialties and fresh fish, fruit and vegetables.
ABOUT OUR APARTMENT :
Our apartment is located on the 3rd floor (2 elevators in the building).
There is a fully equipped kitchen with oven and microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, ceramic hob and fridge/freezer…

ABOUT THE ROOF TERRACE :
Splendid views from the terrace on the 4th floor with sun beds, swimming pool, children's pool, hot tub, showers and toilets. Also a fitness room at your disposal.
There are parking places, for free.

The Central Portugal region

Sao Martinho Do Porto is a little village witch gives view to the bay (looks like a shelve) , separated from the ocen, with a narrow entrance to the sea. That's why the water is so calm, which makes it an ideal place for sun bathing, also with children.
In the bay, there are still fishermen catching fish and other shelves.
Every year, portuguese and foreign visitors come to the bay to swim, to surf, to seal are to canoe or just to relax enjoying the sun on the beach.
On the other side of the bay, there is a village called Salir do Porto. The sandy dunes are lovely with a lot of fauna and flora.
One can easily make a walk all around the bay. Starting from the port-side, you can walk all over the boulevard or over the beach to Salir do Porto. At the restaurant called "O Farol", there is a wooden walking path through the dunes, which leads you through a variation of flowers and plants. The path runs over the river at Salir do Porto. You can also do a lot of trips here by (mountain)bike.
At "miradouro do Cruzeiro", you have a beautiful view all over the bay, Sao Martinho do Porto and the hinterland. On clear days, you can even see Peniche and Nazaré.

In the centre of Sao Martinho, there are some local shops , cafés, restaurants and bakeries. There is a big supermarket and a local indoor market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, fresh fish and local products.
On the boulevard, you can have a drink in one of the pubs or cafés, or enjoy a very good meal or a local specialty in one of the restaurants.
Local specialties are "amigos à Bulhao Pato, Bacalhau, dish with rice and sea food. For the "sweet" ones, there are the
"pasteis de nata ". With every dish, there is a matching Portuguese wine or Portwine.

Sao Martinho do Porto

In the area, there are some beaches you really should visit, such as Praia de Gralha, Praia do Salgado, Foz de Arelho, Peniche (attractive for surfers) , Nazaré etc.
Every sunday, you can visit the authentic " Mercado de Santana".
Surrounding villages or cities to visit are : Nazaré/Sitio , Alcobaça, Leiria, Obidos, Batalha, Aveiro, Fatima, Lisbon and a lot more…
Don't forget to attend to a FADO night.
You can visit the "Berlanga Islands", or try out one of the wine routes, such as Linhas de Torres or the wine route of Obidos.
