Description

The Byre is a luxury one bedroom stone cottage sleeping two people in one large bedroom . There is a sofa foldaway bed in the sitting room.

Located in the beautiful Santon Valley it is secluded and sits in two acres of parkland garden facing south west.

The Byre has a large kitchen and large living room, vaulted ceilings and is modern build although looks traditional (it works!)

It is self catering.

All the accommodation is on the ground floor, is spacious and has level access throughout the the cottage; there is disabled access and a modern smoke and fire alarm system.

It is centrally heated.

The doorways are wide and the bathroom has a walk in power shower.

Although the bed is KingSize - it is zip and link to provide two singles if preferred.

There is a sofa bed in the sitting room which can accommodate two people by arrangement.

There is a smart TV with DVD player and docking station.

Free Wifi is included.

This is a perfect location for walkers and cyclists, outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers!

Getting around

At the Byre you are five minutes stroll from the Santon halt - a Steam Railway station. You are ten minutes walk from a main bus route artery into Douglas the capital, or (in the other direction), Castletown the airport and South of the island. There is ample secure parking here too. You are literally 20 minutes walk from the shore and beach and a host of coastal walks, of differing gradient.

Interaction with guest

We (Lorraine and Nigel) are a professional couple, with three grown up children. We are both Manx (from the Isle of Man) and are passionate about the outdoors, walking, cycling and wildlife. We will generally meet and greet guests and offer support and guidance at any time. We live on site and respect our guests privacy. We do not expect to socialise with guests, but are not anti social! We wish to ensure you maximise your stay on this delightful island, which we call home.

“Most enjoyable location”

The Byre at Ballavale Barns is the perfect holiday retreat, yet convenient to amenities, finished to the highest standard in a contemporary style. A great deal of thought had been given to a starter pack in the fridge: milk, bread, butter, cheese, eggs and a bottle of wine. Nigel, the owner was on hand to welcome us to the property. A very comfortable, light and airy holiday cottage, with a well equipped kitchen, and a great shower! We would not hesitate to visit again.

The Byre at Ballavale Barns was the perfect holiday retreat. A very attractive conversion in lovely grounds. It was much bigger than expected with vaulted ceilings in every room, each thoughtfully decorated and furnished. The kitchen was better equipped than my own and the owners had kindly provided eggs, cheese, bread, butter and milk as well as staples such as cooking oil. Great if you're planning on doing some proper cooking. My 15 year old was very happy with the WiFI, TV and other techy stuff. There were even binoculars for star gazing and loads of information about the island, what to do, where to eat etc. We had a very relaxed and stress free stay, felt welcome and very much at home. Having a steam railway stop less than 10 minutes away was also very convenient. We'll definitely stay there again if we return to the IOM.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
