The name of St. Luce, also seems to manifest coll'esame of some documents, which is a corrupt appellation of St. Lucia, so then said, because when the principle to be born, and extends in the population, there was already here for apparently a parish under the title as there is presently. And if so, was there to believe that coll'erezione of a church in the Christian freedom, some older name gave way to this St. Lucia del Castello, anticipated the aforementioned fortress which was armed the place.
S. Luce was one of the first castles of Maremma Pisana that in 1406 it gave to the Florentines weapons. Michele di Giovanni and Pietro di S. Luce were Pitto and Auditors and Attorneys of that municipality that marked the submission. The Pisani in 1496 regained this place; but the same year the Florentines camped under it, and on November 30, or shortly after, it regained in their power, and that was when they dismantled the fortress.
Compared to budget, S. Luce had always been separate from Lari, and formed independently of a community by itself alone, which were also annexed the municipalities of the parish and of Pastina. But in the new Provincial compartment of 1776 this municipality with the above its annexes was gathered then to the Lari community.
