Description

Casa Zafferano Oasi is the ideal base for travellers wishing to visit Palermo and cities of art and the archaeological and natural sites of western Sicily, but also enjoy the sea and relax with the quiet pace of life of the villages of Aspra, Porticello and Solunto. Surrounded by pine trees and a garden of about a hectare, Saffron House Oasi faces south with a large terrace overlooking the Bay of St. Elias. The panorama views from various points of the House and garden embraces the central coast until Cefalù, Sicily.

From the garden, along a stone path and a staircase leads directly to the road leading to the sea. It takes just a few minutes walk to the beach or on the cliffs, a small sandy beach. The same road leads to the old lighthouse of Capo Zafferano, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view that reaches the eastern part of Palermo. Saffron House oasis was built in the years ' 50, in a style partly inspired by Aeolian houses with large patios and seats.

Restored in 2014, comfortable and cool, is suitable for families or young couples. The large living room with kitchenette, dining table, sofa, tv, fireplace, is directly connected to the terraces that overlook the Gulf and back patio with barbecue, bread oven, brick seats, washing machine and a dining table. The two bedrooms are both doubles. One of the two faces of the pine forest and is equipped with a balcony and a bathroom with shower. On the other hand you see the sea and is equipped with a bathroom with bath. The two areas are separated by a door and a corridor. The cars/bikes at guests ' disposal are two. Capo Zafferano Oasi enjoys a deep quiet thanks to its proximity to the protected area of Capo Zafferano and the sea, but its location is ideal for trips and excursions.

The House is located a few kilometres away from Santa Flavia railway station and less than 10 minutes drive from the A29 motorway. In half an hour you can reach the historic center of Palermo and Monreale Cathedral. Travelling East (Catania and Messina are approximately 2 hours), you can easily reach Cefalù (half an hour), Castelbuono, Tusa and the villages of the Madonie. The immediate surroundings are historical holiday destinations and relax: this is testified by the numerous Baroque and 18th century villas of Bagheria (most notably, Villa Cattolica, houses the Museum Guttuso) and liberty villas in the Centre of Porticello and Sant'Elia. Always dedicated to fishing, these two villages are home to a lively fish market and many restaurants where you can taste regional specialities with fish. A few kilometres away, on monte Catalfano, there are traces of past history of Sicily: the basis of Solanto and the ruins of the Hellenistic town of Solunto.

The use of a car is necessary if you plan to go around and explore the surrondings: in fact the nearest train station, that connect the area with Palermo city center is that one of Bagheria which is far 8 km from the house (and to reach the station you have to cross a road, not very safe for bicycles - and even for walking).

Also, train in Sicily are not very frequent and most of the time are not in time. The last train to Bagheria departs at 6pm (then you would be forced to return home very soon if you spend a day in Palermo).
