Description

Ka´ a ro Cabaña was built by our family in search for a place where we could withdraw and be in touch with nature. Ka´ a ro means leaf in Guarayo, the local indigenous language. This name was given to the cottage by the local people, referring to the roof that is designed like a leaf to blend with the beautiful green and leafy surroundings. This cottage is located on a lake, inside the Santa Rosa de la Mina Country Club and is surrounded by astonishing biodiversity on a 2,471 acre property. The club has a restaurant, a large pool, a children's pool, and organises activities like jet ski, canoe, kayak, fishing, and horseback riding.

The property is at the gateway to the old Jesuit Chiquitos missions, where the Amazonian rain forest and the Chiquitos dry forest meet.

The 17th and 18th century Jesuit missions and Franciscan settlements scattered throughout the region were selected as UNESCO World Heritage Sites under the name Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitos and they are shown in the movie The Mission. Distinguished by a unique fusion of European and Amerindian cultural influences, the missions were founded by Jesuits to convert local tribes. The indigenous inhabitants were taught European Baroque music as a means of conversion and today polyphonic choirs and orchestras play Baroque operas on handmade instruments. Other than cultural tourism to the missionary circuit and musical festivals, the region offers many natural attractions like rivers, lagoons, hot springs, caves and waterfalls.
