La Quintana is a traditional Catalan rural house in a unique and quiet place surrounded by Mediterranean forest and meadows where cattle graze freely. The property has wonderful south views over the valley, allowing the guests to enjoy the sunset while resting in the private yard.
The house is located in Sant Miquel de Campmajor, a very quiet village in the middle of the province of Girona, and very close to important touristic places of Catalonia such as the Costa Brava beaches (45'), the Pyrenees (60'), the Banyoles lake (10'), the Garrotxa Volcanic Park (20'), Girona (30') and Barcelona (90'), which makes it a perfect base for daily trips.
The quiet valley of Sant Miquel de Campmajor is the ideal place to spend relaxing days surrounded by nature, to explore the surrounding hills and valleys on foot or by bike. The nearby river gives a very good chance to fish or to have a bath. There are several adventure sports companies in the area for those in the mood for stronger experiences.
For nature lovers, the Garrotxa Volcanic Park and the Banyoles Lake, both declared places of natural interest, are good places to rent bikes, boats or to observe birds.
The whole house has one independent apartment with central-heating and air conditioned for a maximum of 8 people. It has 4 double rooms (2 twin rooms and 2 double bed rooms), 2 bathrooms, 1 dining-room with satellite TV, DVD, Hi-fi and board games, and 1 full equipped kitchen with an open fireplace. The yard around the house is provided with a barbecue and garden furniture. During summer, we also provide a paddling pool for kids.
Recommended for families with children (pets allowed) because of its large private garden and strategic situation in the Girona region. But also for groups of friends who want to rest and have a quiet holiday.

The Catalunia region
The Costa Brava- To enjoy some unforgettable panoramic views you can visit the area of Cap de Creus on the Northern part of the coast. This area includes the coastal villages of Cadaqués, Port de la Selva, Llançà and the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, a jewel of Romanic architecture. The ruins of Empúries, the Medes Islands all can be found in the central part of the Costa Brava, whereas further South you will find Calella de Palafrugell, Tamariu, Begur, etc. , small villages all retaining both the lifestyle and architectural characteristics of fishing villages.
Girona - An old Roman city, whose historical centre is one of the most important in the Iberian Peninsula. The cathedral, the churches of Sant Feliu and Sant Pere Galligants, the convent of Sant Domènech, Jewish Quarter, the Arab baths and the archaeological walk with its city walls are all witnesses to different cultures throughout the city´s historic progress. The river Onyar flows through the centre of the city and creates another special attraction with the houses that are built along its banks. In May, Girona´s floral exhibition should not be missed. A visit to the Devesa park is another option.
The Pyrenees – The mountains of the Pyrenees are renowned for their attraction throughout the seasons. During winter, snowsport lovers will find various ski resorts: Vallter 2000, La Molina, La Masella and Núria, with its sanctuary which can only be reached on foot or by rack railway. This is an area perfect for visiting at any time of year, where apart from winter sports, many excursions can be made and wonderful panoramic views enjoyed along with the richness of the vegetation and wildlife.
Leisure activities and visits - The Darder and the Archaeological Museums in Banyoles are of special interest as are the Dalí and Toy Museums in Figueres. In Girona, you can find the Museum of the history of cinema, etc. With regard to historic civilizations you can visit, among other places, the ruins at Empúries or the Iberic settlement at Ullastret. Other places deserving a mention are the Botanical Gardens at Cap Roig near Palafrugell and Mar i Murtra, another spectacular garden, in Blanes.
Sant Miquel de Campmajor
Banyoles and surrounding area - 9 km away the lake in Banyoles is a recommended visit for a boat ride or simply to contemplate its peaceful still waters. The main square, the Darder Natural History Museum, the Archaeological Museum are other places of interest in the town. Nearby, among other things worthy of a visit, are the romanic church at Porqueres, the prehistoric caves of Serinyà or the wood of erotic sculptures at Can Ginabreda.
The routes of the Soldiers of Salamina – Several different itineraries extend over the area, including Cornellà de Terri, Palol de Revardit and Sant Miquel de Campmajor, these pass through wooded areas which were frontiers severely affected by the Civil War as can be read in the book or seen in the film “Soldiers of Salamina”.
