Description

Criffel Lodge is a modern self catering chalet for up to 6 and is situated is a small group of 10 chalets in mature oak woodland next to Colvend golf course. Free WiFi. Great for families as Sandyhills beach is 10 minute walk away, and cliff top coastal walks take you round to Rockcliffe (get the bus back and leave the car at the lodge!). It's a haven for wild life and from the lodge its common to see red squirrels, badgers, deer, rabbits and a large range of woodland and coastal birds. It's a quiet location and suitable for guests trying to get away from it all (it's not a holiday village!).A mile or so down the road is Mersehead RSPB for wintering Barnacle Geese and ducks, and in the summer nesting lapwings, tree sparrows (there are not many of these about!) and various birds of prey including Peregrine Falcon, owls and harriers.The lodge is double gla\zed and heated by full oil fired central heating to keep you comfortable both summer and winter. There is ample room for 6 guests in one double and two twin rooms. An airy and bright open plan area for kitchen dining and lounge with sofa seating for 6.For mountain bikers, 7-Stanes Dalbeattie is just down the road and the lodge also makes a good location for road bike excursions.

Up to 2 dogs are accepted subject to conditions (see house rules) and a £10 fee per dog.

Bed linen is provided, but please provide you own towels.

WiFi is provided and is as fast as we can get it, please note this may not be as fast as your home connection . In this area of rural Dumfries and Galloway mobile phone signals are variable and can be poor or no signal.

Maximum of two. Pets are to be kept under strict control at all times not to cause damage to property or get on the furniture or beds at any time. Please clear up any fouling caused by your pet. The grounds of the lodge are open to the access track, woods or golf course - keep your dog on lead while outside.
WiFi is provided but superfast broadband speeds are not available in this part of rural Dumfries and Galloway.

“Magical place for a relaxing break.”

Our stay at the lodge was wonderful. Much larger than what we expected. We had daily visits from red squirrels on out decking. A bonus was the peaceand quiet sitting outside, also distant views through the trees to the sea and the cumbrian hills. The coast is charming, we visited local seaside villages and had lovely walks, just pottering about on the beach, only 15mins walk away. A great location, well equiped lodge. Highly reccomended. Thanks.

An amazing location in stunning countryside with real live animals visiting for food daily. The lodge was superbly equipped with everything we needed to make our stay stress free, loads to do in this beautiful area with great walks along the cliff and gorgeous beaches. Would certainly recommend and we would like a return visit next year.

We had a lovely week in this wooden chalet located amidst farmland and golf course within easy reach of the beach at Sandyhills. The chalet is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. 1 week in this beautiful part of the world is never enough with so much to see and do in the region. My boys were thrilled when a pair of badgers visited every night at dusk to gobble up the chopped apples we left for them. We thoroughly recommend this holiday house!

Super, spacious, clean, warm, lodge. Made our week just perfect. Perfect location to explore the area, and lots of wildlife and walks close by. Breakfast on the decked veranda was a perfect start to the day. Just fab.

The lodge is well equipped and warm and comfortable. Wildlife literally on your doorstep! Very nice beaches and small villages around to visit and a fantastic beach at Sandyhills 10 minutes walk from the lodge. Our only negative would be the mobile signal, neither myself or my partner could get any reception in the lodge or in Colvend itself, whilst this for many would be a plus it did bring up the question of what if one of us had an accident whilst there on our own?!? That being said it is a lovely place and we had a very nice holiday thanks

Very enjoyable stay at Criffel Lodge and will definitely be returning. Lodge is stocked with everything you could possibly need and more. Scenery is spectacular and we enjoyable lots of beautiful walks. Fabulous weekend had by all.

How do damage deposits work?

If Brian (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
